Locum Services

Hourly Rate will be in accordance with The Passage’s current Locum Project Worker hourly rate of pay is £12.03 per hour, Locum Montfort House Night Workers hourly rate of pay is £10.71and Locum Concierge hourly rate of pay is £10.20per hour.

Whilst providing a Locum Service, the worker will work under the direction and guidance of the Team Leader / Manager of the service based.

The Passage will have no obligation to offer any work whatsoever and Locum Workers are under no obligation to accept work if it is offered. There is no requirement that The Passage offer, or that a Locum Worker accepts, a fixed or reasonable amount of work within any period.

Shift Work:You could be offered a range of shifts depending on which service you work in but generally it would consist of:

Early shifts starting at 7:00 / 7:30 / 8:00am

Mid shifts starting at 9:00am

Late shifts starting at 3:00 / 4:00pm

Night Shifts starting at 8:00pm/ 10:00pm

Work Base:- Resource Centre, Carlisle Place, SW1 1NL

-Montfort House, 24 hour residential project supporting 16 former long term rough sleepers living in own flat

-Passage House, 24 hour Assessment Centre

-Outreach Team

We are looking for Locums with:

An Enhanced DBS disclosure is required for any person providing Locum Services, as any shifts covered on an ad-hoc basis, will be directly working with vulnerable adults.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • As part of the team to provide a safe and welcoming environment for homeless and vulnerable people whether in our residential or Resource Centre settings
  • To provide accessible and relevant services for users of Residential or the Resource Centre
  • To engage and assess the client/resident and refer them to most appropriate services and / or to meet the client’s needs directly.
  • To induct new clients/residents and its services and sign post them internally and externally to appropriate services within the procedures
  • To assess any risk to clients, the environment and staff, record and communicate any risks identified using appropriate channels and support staff to minimise risks to the best of you ability thus maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff through out the day centre.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the residential service or Resource Centre
  • Ensure and maintain a consistent, effective and psychologically informed service to all clients.
  • To work co-operatively and professionally with external agencies, partnership agencies and internal teams/departments and volunteers providing services within the Passage.
  • To deal with incidents and emergencies in a calm professional manner and within the organisation’s policy and procedures.
  • To conduct initial, informal, assessment with new clients and where appropriate refer for further assessment within The Passage.
  • To offer clients the opportunity to talk about issues affecting them in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
  • To keep simple written records of information regarding numbers of clients seen, referrals and sign postings of alternative services made and to pass this information back to the appropriate Manager for inclusion in quarterly and other reports as requested.
  • To challenge inappropriate behaviour, report, record and monitor issues of potentialabuse using the protocols in place as identified in the organisation’s policies and procedure.
  • To work as part of the rota taking a fair share of all duties as requested by the team leader / manager of the service

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage.
  • To participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary.
  • To ensure that all The Passage policies and procedures are being adhered to, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Code of Practice and Confidentiality.
  • To contribute to the effective implementation of The Passage’s Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both The Passage and its work with vulnerable adults.
  • To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of The Passage[1].
  • Undertake any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.

Experience

E1In depth experience of working, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, with vulnerable people who present with challenging behaviour
