The Kingdom of God

Kingdom simply means “Kings Dominion”, “the territory subject to the rule of a king” or in the NT “a realm”

Jesus preached His first message in Mat 4:17 that the “the Kingdom of Heaven is near” which was the same exact message that John the Baptist preached in Mat 3:2 in the desert, so what were they really talking about?

Jesus was re-establishing the Kingdom that Adam lost! Adam didn’t loose heaven or a garden, Adam lost relationship and intimacy with God. In essence Adam gave the Kingdom God just gave him over to a dictator named Lucifer, or we call him the devil.

The original design of God

Gen 1:26-28 CJB

26 Then God said, "Let us make (aw-saw) humankind (H120 adam-a new species) in our image, in the likeness of ourselves; and let them rule (radah-dominion, reign) over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the animals, and over all the earth, and over every crawling creature that crawls on the earth."

27 So God created (baw-raw) humankind (H120) in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them: God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue (kabash – conqur, subjugat) it. Rule (radah-have dominion) over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air and every living creature that crawls on the earth."

In Gen1:26 the word make is from the Hebrew word asa which means “to form from something that is already created”. We were MADE in God’s image, likeness, and attributes.

In Gen 1:27 God actually created male and female spirits, the word create is from the Hebrew word bara which means “created from nothing”.

Our spirits were created in God’s image and likeness, not our physical bodies.

Gen 2:7-8 CJB

7 Then Adonai, God, formed a person [H120 adam] from the dust of the ground [adamah] and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, so that he became a living being. 8 Adonai, God, planted a garden toward the east, in `Eden, and there he put the person whom he had formed.

Then in Gen 2:7 God formed (yaw-tsar-squeezing into shape, to mold) the physical suit we have called a body and breathed His Spirit in us, the one that was created in Gen 1:27.

God said in Gen 1:26 “let THEM have dominion over…” and transferred His authority and power in “His Kingdom” to this new species called man. By this He established mankind as the only legal authority on earth to act on His behalf.

God gave man “limited power of attorney” over “His Kingdom” and the animals, He never meant for man to rule over mankind itself. God is still our King!

When Adam sinned he declared independence from the Kingdom of God and he didn’t loose a religion or heaven he lost his authority and dominion over “the Kingdom” that God has just established on earth.

Religion has become man’s substitute for the Kingdom that Adam lost; religion is simply man’s search for God.

The First Earthly King

God was originally Israel’s King, but they wanted a human king they could see like all the other nations to rule over them. (Read all 1 Sam:8)

1 Sam 8:5-20 NLT

5 "Look," they told him (Samuel), "you are now old, and your sons are not like you. Give us a king to judge us like all the other nations have."

7 "Do everything they say to you," the LORD replied, "for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don't want Me to be their king any longer.

Kingdom of God / Kingdom of Heaven

Whenever Jesus mentions the “Kingdom of God“, He is referring to the actual rule of God in the spiritual realm. The Kingdom of God on earth, therefore, is God’s authority within the heart and spirit of man.

When He says, the “Kingdom of Heaven,” He is talking about its “headquarters” and the heavenly invasion upon the earth, or the transfer of power from the spiritual realm to the physical. The Kingdom of heaven is when that authority impacts the human earthly environment through His designated representatives.

As His representatives we are called to enforce the rule of heaven in the affairs of man. We are supposed to distribute the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus restores the Kingdom on earth

Jump forward to Jesus present day: all the kingdoms on earth leading up to the Roman Empire would concur a territory or another kingdom and bring all the civilians into theirs.

The Romans would concur another kingdom and take 300 Roman citizens and place them in that kingdom to change and infiltrate their culture and make them into a Roman Empire. This was the first Kingdom on earth that ever did that. The Governors’ job was to change their language, culture, religion, and history to make it look like Rome. That is now the Holy Sprit’s job on earth, to be the Governor and make it look like heaven through the new citizens (us).

Mat 6:10 AMP Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Israel was under the Roman rule when Jesus came, so when He was telling them the “Kingdom of God is like” He was contrasting God’s Kingdom to the Roman kingdom.

1 Cor 4:20 AMP

For the kingdom of God consists of and is based on not talk but power (moral power and excellence of soul).

What did Jesus preach and teach?

His message was to REPENT or “change your way of thinking”, that the Kingdom of God is now upon you. That the Law was no longer your way to salvation, but He is! You must come to Him to see the Kingdom of God.

Luk 7:28 AMP

I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; but he that is inferior [to the other citizens] in the kingdom of God is greater [in incomparable privilege] than he.

Joh 3:3 AMP

3 Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.

5 Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God. [Ezek. 36:25-27.]

Jesus said you MUST be born again to SEE the Kingdom of God and to enjoy citizenship with Him, the King! Jesus never preached salvation, he preached the Kingdom of God. Re-read your Gospels and see that all His messages referenced the Kingdom of God!

The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is not about salvation, it is about the Kingdom of God which includes salvation, healing, shalom, and God taking care of your needs. Religion has reduced the Gospel to only getting saved or born again which has left the church deficient.

We are to preach Christ suffered and was crucified, died, and was raised again. That He tore the veil that separated us from God and restored the Kingdom that God gave Adam, this is all for us to have citizenship in His Kingdom.

Read John 10:9-10, it describes how life is supposed to be under the Kingdom of God! Jesus talked about sheep and taking care of them, and how you must enter the Kingdom through Him, the Good Shepard! Then you can enjoy life and have abundance in what the King provides, then you can SEE the Kingdom of God.

That is why people that have not been saved can not understand the Bible, why they can not see the Kingdom of God… an un-renewed mind that doesn’t know Jesus will never understand the things of God. As He said, for those that have eyes let the see, and those that have ears let them hear.

Joh 10:9-10 AMP

I am the Door; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live). He will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture. 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven

Mat 16:19 AMP {notice keys is plural}

I will give you the KEYS of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven. [Isa. 22:22.]

Mar 4:11 AMP

And He said to them, To you has been entrusted the MYSTERY of the kingdom of God [that is, the secret counsels of God which are hidden from the ungodly]; but for those outside [of our circle] everything becomes a parable,

Mat 13:11 NLT

He replied, "You are PERMITTED to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.

The Kingdom of God is IN you!

Luk 8:10 CJB

and he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the Kingdom of God; but the rest are taught in parables, so that they may look but not see, and listen but not understand.

Luk 17:20-21 AMP

20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display, 21 Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].

“God’s purpose was to establish a commonwealth of citizens, not members of a religion”

“However, the concept of kingdom is completely opposite to the concept of religion. A kingdom consists of a king with citizens. Citizenship is essentially a legal entity with rights and privileges protected by a constitutional commitment (the Bible) of the king and his government.”

In Mat 3:2 when Jesus said “repent” it means to “change your way of thinking” He wanted Israel in that day (and ours) to change their thinking from the Law (or religion) to be justified, to “Kingdom living” and ruling and reigning! To get BACK to Genesis!

The difference in the Plans:

Gen 1:28 In the OT God told Adam and Eve “to be fruitful (reproduce) and multiply, subdue the earth and rule over it every living creature.”

In Mat 28:19-20 In the NT Jesus said “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them everything I have taught you” or in other words to reproduce and multiply “Christ In you”, the SEED (Holy Spirit) He was going to give them.

In both cases “man” was supposed to reproduce what God had done for them and given them.

We are NOT waiting for the Kingdom of God to come, He is waiting for us to take it and subdue the earth preaching the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.

Heaven is NOT your home, and neither was it Adam and Eve’s

God made the earth for His children, humans. Heaven was made for the Angles to serve Him, not to be our home. God created the garden on earth and put Adam and Even in it, he didn’t put them in heaven, but on earth to subdue it and multiply.

Rev 21:1-2 AMP

THEN I saw a new sky (heaven) and a new earth, for the former sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea. [Isa. 65:17; 66:22.] 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, all arrayed like a bride beautified and adorned for her husband;

Rev 21:10-11 AMP

Then in the Spirit He conveyed me away to a vast and lofty mountain and exhibited to me the holy (hallowed, consecrated) city of Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God, [Ezek. 40:2.] 11 Clothed in God's glory [in all its splendor and radiance].

So don’t be in a hurry to go to heaven, because you will just be coming back to earth! Instead, be in a hurry to DO His work ON earth and acting like His kids!
