On. Jan. 20th, we conducted a Viking River Cruise presentation in east Mesa. We had approx. 70 people attend and the event went very well. Our Viking River rep. was on hand and he echoed the same thing we have been saying for the past couple of years. River cruising has become so popular that many of the companies, including Viking cannot keep up with the demand. They are building ships at a record pace and many of the popular itineraries are booked up 12 to 16 months in advance. With that being said, how many of you were aware that Viking River is getting into the ocean cruising market? Their first ocean ship is not even finished yet however, it is completely sold out for 2015. Departures is already making bookings on this exciting ship for 2016. Viking has already commissioned 2 other ocean ships for the future. Some of the wonderful differences about Viking ocean is that the ships are going to be smaller, which will allow them to access smaller and more unique ports, compared to the larger ocean liners. Also, in the Viking tradition, beer, wine and port excursions will be included, along with free WI-FI. Departures will be conducting an in-office Viking presentation in the near future. Please check our web page for more info. If you would like to come in and talk about your exciting options with Viking River or Ocean, please give us a call.

READY TO VISIT CUBA?

If you have not heard, relations with Cuba have been changing. While it has been possible to visit Cuba in the past, restrictions are easing and we believe they will continue to ease at a fast pace. As this happens, we think that Cuba will quickly become a very popular tourist destination. With their beautiful beaches only 90 miles away from the United States, it is just a matter of time before they become the next "in place" to be. So, if you would like to see Cuba as it is now, before it becomes just another popular tourist destination, contact Departures to explore your options for visiting Cuba.Departures is currently working with a couple of our travel partners to design some travel packages to Cuba. Please watch for an upcoming announcement for an in-office presentation on Cuba. You can be a part of history by visiting the beautiful and historic island of Cuba.

Please remember that Departures Travel is a full service, family owned travel agency that has been in east Mesa for 30 years. We can take care of all your travel needs from door to door for any destination in the world. We can also coordinate all your friends and family from around the world for that special group trip.
