“The Ship for World Youth Leaders”

Interested youth who meet the below-mentioned criteria should submit the following documents via email on :

  1. Filled in application form.
  2. Recent photo.
  3. Updated CV

Deadline for submission of the above is 21 June 2016.

Incomplete applications will be disregarded.

It is important to note that although this application form will be taken into consideration in the evaluation process, candidates will be required to undergo a multi-staged selection process where selection will be based on the highest weighted scores for all stages. Details of the selection process, which will take place, will be communicated to all successful applicants at a later date.

Applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

  • 21 to 30 years of age
  • Bahraini National
  • Single
  • Capable of representing Bahrain.
  • Able to conduct discussions and presentations in English
  • Of sound health and mind
  • A good team player
  • Motivated, committed, and responsible
  • Open-minded and values Religion , Arabic, and Bahraini tradition and culture
  • Self-confident
  • Receptive to other cultures and religions
  • Proactive and takes initiative
  • Willing to work closely with ex-participants in post-program activities through the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association (SWYAAB) once he/she returns to diffuse the knowledge gained in the Bahraini society
  • Willing and able to participate in the entire duration of the program from 14 January to 29 February 2016
  • Have preliminary parental/employer consent to partake in the program
  • If siblings have attended the program previously, then applicant will not be eligible to join the program

SECTION FOUR: PARTICIPATION IN SWY

32. / A key part of the program is the series of National Presentations conducted by all participating delegations, whereby each country is given 30 minutes during which it presents its culture & civilization. SECTION FIVE: BEFORE & AFTER SWY

This section can be answered in either Arabic or English

33. / Prior to departure, the delegation will seek fundraising from private sector companies in Bahrain to support the expenses of the team (souvenirs, giveaways, donations in ports of call, exhibitions, etc.). What ideas do you have that would help raise the required funds? (150 words)
34. / In reference to question 32 above, what kind of souvenirs / giveaways would you suggest to take for your new friends on SWY? (50 words)
35. / Once selected to join the Bahrain delegation to SWY2015, you will be required to contribute a significant amount of time (approximately 10 hours/week) each week to the pre-departure preparations from September until departure in January. The selection committee recognizes that participants have other commitments, but would like to stress that preparing for the SWY program will require a dedicated effort from each delegate. How much time will you be able to contribute to this effort in the four months prior to departure, and how will you manage your time given your other commitments? (150 words)
36. / Upon your return, you will be a part of the global SWY alumni network and a member of the Bahrain Ship for World Youth Alumni Association (SWYAAB). How do you think you can contribute to SWYAAB? How much time will you have to organize / take part in post-program activities with SWYAAB? (200 words)

SECTION SIX: APPLICANT’S DECLARATION

By signing this application, I certify that all statements made by me and contained herein are accurate and true. I realize that should the Selection Committee, the General Organization for Youth & Sports, or the Government of Japan discover that I have provided inaccurate or misleading information, I may be immediately dismissed from the program.

In signing and submitting this application form, those applicants who are selected commit to:

  1. Complete the full program and abide by its agenda. If a participant should have to leave the program for any reason whatsoever, including being asked to leave by the Program Directors or the National Leader of Bahrain, they will be required to pay the expenses associated with this decision.
  2. Obey all international laws and assume full liability for individual actions while on the program.
  3. Assist in the pre-departure preparations for the Bahraini delegation from August-September 2015until departure.
  4. Complete the homework and preparation assigned to them from Japan before departure.
  5. Contribution effort towards SWYAAB activities after the program is completed as and when required.
