The Multi-Talented McRaes
Marlene McRae is a WPRA Barrel Racing World Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist & World Class Horsewoman. Marlene together with her husband Doug McRae, PRCA Tie Down Roper and Team Roper, make up two very accomplished horsemen that have developed a very complete program to assist aspiring horsemen and horsewomen in achieving their goals in the horse world. With their home on the Lone Tree Ranch located in Kerrville, Texas they have the abilities and the facilities to properly develop horses and horse equipment correctly. And with their direct-to-the-customer World Champion Designs saddle, tack & accessories store & catalog, they are further able to be hands-on in all aspects of the horse world.
"Together, we have developed and marketed my endorsed products which are specifically designed and selected to protect, enhance and promote horse soundness, comfort and performance," said Marlene.
The Lone Tree Ranch is complete horse training facility with an indoor arena, large outdoor arena, horse barn with 20+ stalls and all the amenities, including hundreds of acres of pastures and trails to ride along with a half mile race track for conditioning.
The Lone Tree Ranch is a private facility, the McRae’s do not board outside horses. They keep it pure by offering one-on-one lessons to aspiring horse people where the emphasis is on the horse and rider becoming a complete team.
“Our customers soon become friends.” states Marlene. “We like to keep it personal.”
Once a year they offer their Annual Marlene Clinic at the Lone Tree Ranch. They limit the number of riding students so each person gets plenty of individual attention.
“It amazes us every year how many people return for the Annual Clinic!” Doug says. “I always expect a new group, but the past students sign up early and before long the clinic is full.”
It is a testament that they are doing things right.
"Over my entire professional career, not counting my youth, high school and college days, I can count over 200 different horses I have personally ridden to winnings in professional rodeo competition,” said Marlene.

"My tenth National Finals Rodeo qualification in 2000 capped my career and further promoted our standing stallion that I competed on. I now stay involved with horse competition at selected professional events throughout the United States and Canada."
Marlene continues, "Since 2000 I have continued to travel and compete at a limited number of rodeo's and jackpots as this allows me to stay current in my riding, training and competing on all of my horses and those of customers. It also allows me to promote my endorsements and various business ventures.”
Doug and Marlene now concentrate solely on their diverse array of businesses in the performance horse world including: training performance horses, designing, researching and developingnew products, Marlene’s Special Effx Saddles by Reinsman, and Marlene and Doug conduct barrel racing & horsemanship clinics and seminars throughout the world.
