Meeting Agenda for April 15, 2010

The meeting was held on April 15, Thursday 10:00am @ the Delhi Township WWTP, 5961 McCue Rd., Holt, MI 48842. Please bring your copy of the agenda.

3.  MDNRE Update:

a.  Jim Johnson: Biosolids Program going into the Groundwater Division of the Environmental Protection Bureau of MDNRE: Discussed levels and divisions chiefs, asst. div. chiefs, remains top heavy. Filling regional director jobs (3). 2 Biosolids items: Ishpeming Composted Biosolids wanting to give it away. Problems with volumes, 1 metric ton, etc. Negaunee is talking with Ishpeming about combining systems…

Goodland Twp. (Lapeer Co.) sent in a proposed ordinance to regulate biosolids. A public hearing will take place at the twp. Hall, on May 12,@ 7pm. Discussed ban applying next to vegetable production sites, setback of ¼ mi. from drainage ditches.

b.  Bahram Zamani: 2 Lagoon programs in Shiawassee County, Bio-Tech more contracts

c.  Detroit is still entertaining land applying, even privatizing.

4.  MDA Update

b.  Ag Expo coming up July 20-22.

c.  Earth day next week Thursday, 2000 kids.

a.  Expos: Biosolids need to be applied the week of April 26, Corn needs to be planted the week of May 3 along with a small area next to the Plant Pathology farm buildings at MSU, with Ornamental Corn. Tent ordered.

b.  Seminar: 2010 conference: good, low attendence, made money,

2011: survey supports a joint conference with IPP; IPP: 90 attendees, respondants: 63, 90% in favor of joint conference, 66% support overnight 2 day conference…
