The Mendyka Family Scholarship
This $1,000 annual scholarship is open to any graduating senior or person already in college or a post high school institution who is considering a career in either K-12 education or as a first responder (i.e. Police, Fire, EMT). This scholarship is made in memory of the teachers, school administrators/staff and the children who were killed or wounded during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012 and to those first responders who risked their lives to attend to the wounded.
It is awarded by the Donna and Steven Mendyka Family to recognize those people who, through their public service,educate, serve and protect our children.
The scholarship money is intended to defray the cost of any college related expenses. It should be used by the student in the area they need the most help in order to attend a college, university or post-high school institute of their choice.
In addition to recognizing the career choice of the students the Mendyka Family is also looking for students who are active outside the classroom and have shown leadership traits both inside and outside the classroom.
Every school year the Mendyka Family will look to select one student to provide a $1,000 scholarship or two students to provide $500 scholarships to.
To be considered for this scholarship:

-Submit the application and essay tothe Mendyka Family no later than May 1, 2018
