The Executive Committee of Caldwell Parish School Board met on Thursday, July 6, 2017at 5:30 pm at the Caldwell Parish School Board Office. Members present were David May and Jodi Kenney. CR Martin was absent.Superintendent, John Gullatt and Kaylee Foy were also present.

The meeting was called to order by David May.

The monthly check register was reviewed and approved along with the monthly sales tax report.

The year to date budget was approved and the Superintendent commented “the school board is aware of the cost reimbursement factor for the head start fund.”

With no further business, the Executive Committee meeting was adjourned.

The Caldwell Parish School Board met in the regular session on Thursday, July 6, 2017at 6:00 pm at the Caldwell Parish School Board Office. Members present were Dr. John Robinson, Gary Cassels,James King, Baron Glass, David May and Jodi Kenney. CR Martin was absent.

The meeting was called to order by Board President Dr. John Robinson.

An invocation was given by James Kingand David May led the board in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.

David May gave the Executive Committee report to the board and the board accepted it as given. He also reported on the year to date budget that was presented in the Executive committee and it was accepted.

On a motion, by David May and seconded by Jodi Kenney the board voted to accept the minutes of the June 13, 2017 and June 29, 2017 board meetings.

On a motion, by Jodi Kenney and seconded by David May the board voted to adopt the child nutrition procurement plan.

Class of 2016 Highlights

  • Ranked 3rd in the state for highest Graduation Rate
  • Ranked 1st in growth of Graduation Rate from 2005-06 to 2015-16 with a growth of 31.4 percentage points
  • Ranked 1st in growth of Graduation Rate from 2012-13 to 2015-16 (when accountability changes removed points for GED/HiSet) with a growth of 24.9 percentage points

On a motion, by Baron Glass and seconded by James King the board voted to extend the Superintendents contract until December 31, 2020 and raising his salary to $107,500.00

Monica Coates gave an update on the Head Start. Head Start and Prek are fully staffed as of right now. Currently there are 49 students enrolled for the prek and 54 enrolled with complete packets at the head start.

Superintendent John Gullatt started his report bytelling the board that the stadium was being prepped for painting and hopefully would start painting next week. They are looking at quotes to re pave the driveway at UCES. Mr. Gullatt announced that Mr. James Wells was selected as the Principal for CPHS. Interviews for Columbia Elem. Principal and vice principal for the high school would take place in the near future.
