Zitzman Elementary PTO

September 12, 2017

The meeting began at 6pm with 17 members in attendance.

The Scentsy Fundraiser was discussed and it was decided that it will be planned for a Spring time launch to avoid overlap with the upcoming school fundraiser set for a Sept 21st launch. There are still plans to have a pizza party for sellers and a Scentsy Buddy drawing for the top sellers.

The Homecoming Parade will be Saturday, Sept. 30th. The theme is "Once Upon a Homecoming". It was decided to have Zitzman students walk with balloons to represent the Disney movie "UP" with a banner or sign with something to the effect of "Zitzman is Rising Up". There will be a meeting Friday, Sept. 29th at 4pm to make signs and inflate balloons. The students walking can dress as elderly people to go along with the "UP" movie theme.

The Rodeo will be held the same weekend as Homecoming this year, Sept. 29th & 30th. PTO will apply to sell glow items again this year. Volunteers will be needed to work the booth in 2 hour shifts on both Friday and/or Saturday. We also may have Character Coaches help out at the booth.

Ladies Night Out planning was discussed and it was decided to reserve the Senior Center for the event on November 3rd from 7-10pm so that adult beverages could be made available for purchase at the event.

Go Go Ghost Night will be held on October 26th from 6-8pm. There will be literacy activities held inside the school from 6-7pm and the trunk or treat portion will be from 7-8pm. Each grade level will be hosting a trunk. It was decided that while the event will be free to Zitzman families there will be a small charge for those outside the Zitzman community. Wristbands will be distributed to the students at school before the event. It was suggested to have paper wristbands at the event for paying guests.

The Halloween celebration will be on October 31st from approximately 12-3:30pm and will allow students to wear their costumes to school. A $3 donation/child will be requested to cover the cost of snacks and activities.

Grandparent's Day was discussed and will be altered a bit this year. The plan is to hold the event over 3 days with first letters of last names determining which day each student is assigned to participate. The students will have a brief singing performance for the grandparents followed by splitting into two groups to rotate between a bingo activity and the book fair. The proposed title is "Books & Bingo" and is likely to be held November 8th, 9th, & 10th. Volunteers will be needed for this event.

Please respond to if you are available to volunteer at any of the above discussed events.

Other events to be discussed at a later meeting include; Dinner with Santa, a Mother/Son Dodgeball event, a Daddy/Daughter Dance, and a 5K to be planned for sometime in the spring.

The next meeting is October 10th at 6pm in the library.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15pm.
