FACILITY: The Towson University pool is an eight lane, 25-yard pool with non-turbulent lane lines. A Colorado timing system will be utilized. The minimum water depth, measure in accordance with Article 103.2.3, is 12 feet deep at the starting end, and 4 feet deep at the turn end. Decking seating for coaches only as all swimmers and families will be seated in one of two gyms. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2c(4).

SAFETY : All YMCA and USA Swimming/Maryland Swimming warm-up and safety guidelines will be in effect for the entire meet.

ELIGIBILITY: Each swimmer must be a member in good standing of their local Y/YMCA and must have a full privilege annual membership. This meet is open to the following teams (C&P Swim League):

ENTRY RULES: Swimmer’s age, for age group determination, is as of 12/01/13. A swimmer may swim three individual events per day. Only one event per swimmer for the Friday evening session. No Times (NT) entries are acceptable. No Deck Entries will be permitted.

RULES:

·  The latest applicable USAS/MD Swimming rules shall govern this competition. No one will be permitted on the pool deck unless registered with USA Swimming as an athlete or as a non-athlete working at the meet. The only exception will be for timers and table workers assisting with the meet.

·  Overhead (dive over) starts will be used during all sessions. Please make sure your swimmers understand how overhead starts are done

·  Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is not allowed in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. [USA Swimming, Article 305.3]

·  The practice of Deck Changing is prohibited. Swimmers must use the locker rooms to change into and out of their swimsuits. Swimmers participating in deck changing would be in violation of the USA Swimming Code of Conduct/Sportsmanship policy and could be subject to removal from further competition in the meet.

·  USA SWIMMING / MD SWIMMING SAFETY GUIDELINES AND WARM-UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE MEET. Use of stretch cords, paddles, fins, kick boards, etc are not permitted. Coaches and swimmers are asked to review MD Swimming Rules, Section 14.8.

·  Only entered swimmers, officials working the meet, meet workers, and current USA swimming coach members are eligible to be on deck. Coaches will be required to display their credentials at all times while on deck. [MD Swimming Rules, Section 14.4]

·  USA Swimming athlete-members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. The Meet Director will assist swimmers w/out their own coach in making arrangements for such supervision, but it is the swimmer’s responsibility to make such arrangements prior to the start of the meet. [USA Swimming, Article 202.3.2]

·  Starting procedures for this meet will be conducted in accordance with USA Swimming Rules, Article 101.1. All swimmers and coaches are encouraged to re-familiarize themselves with the starting signals [USA Swimming, Article 101.1.2] and False Start rules [USA Swimming, Article 101.1.3].

·  Any USA/Y swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement [USA Swimming, Article 202.3.3].

·  If needed, overhead (dive-over) starts will be used during the meet. Coaches are asked to make sure your swimmers understand how overhead starts are done.

·  Swimmers with disabilities (or their Coaches) should notify the Meet Director and Referee of any special accommodations they may need (In accordance with USA Swimming, Article 105). Advance notice of any special accommodations, at the time of meet entry, will allow the Meet Director to make any necessary adjustments when the events are seeded and would be greatly appreciated.

·  The Meet director reserves the right to combine or otherwise adjust the order of events to meet session time constraints.

·  Facility Rules: All swimmers MUST dry off, have clothing AND shoes upon leaving the pool area!! The hallways MUST stay as dry as possible. There is to be NO BALL PLAYING OR THROWING OF ANY KIND in the gym areas. All meet participants and family members MUST remain in the areas of the building allotted to meet attendees. Anyone outside of the appropriate areas will be asked to leave the meet.

ENTRY FEES: YMCA swimmers $6.50 per individual event

There will also be a $3.00 per swimmer facilities charge to help offset the increased costs of the facility rental.

ENTRY DEADLINE: All entries must be submitted via Hy-tek's Team Manager & received by Monday, November 25, 2013. Entries via e-mail are preferred. NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted. No deck changes or additions will be accepted. PLEASE make sure your entry file only includes USA IDs for swimmers who are USA registered. (If you are using Team Unify files, please send me a list of your swimmers that are USA registered so IDs can be eliminated from those who are not)

OFFICIALS &

TIMERS: In order to run an efficient meet, we are requesting that each team provide officials and timers to work each session. A volunteer form is enclosed to be submitted with your entries. Each team must provide a minimum of 2 timers per session. For every 25 swimmers entered in the meet, you team must provide 1 additional timer. Friday night participants must provide their own timer and counter for the event. No extra MSM staff will be available to time or count. In addition, each team is responsible for providing an adult to supervise their swimmers in the gym and to make sure they get to the Clerk of Course on time. Clerk of Course will only be in place during the AM- 12 & under sessions.

SPECTATORS/

SWIMMERS: Spectators will not be allowed on the pool deck and will not be allowed to sit in the aisles of the stands. We must adhere strictly to these conditions in order to meet Fire Marshal regulations. Swimmers will be expected to be in the gym when they are not swimming. All swimmers Session 2 & 4 (AM – 12 & under) must report to the Clerk of Course. Failure to do so could result in the swimmer being scratched from that event.

PROGRAMS: Meet programs will be sold…$5 per day (am/pm sessions included).

FOOD: Email with more information will follow. Hospitality will be provided for Coaches and Officials.

MERCHANDISE: There will be a variety of swimwear, shirts, sweatshirts, goggles, caps, and other merchandise for sale from Metro Swim Shop.

FACILITY/GYM

RULES: Please remind your teams that you will not be allowed to lay blankets on the gym floor…please bring chairs. We will have the two gym configuration this year. Teams will be designated a space in one of the gyms according to the size of their teams. Hallways must remain clear at all times. Parents should NOT wait for swimmers in the hallway outside the pool deck door – they should wait inside the gyms for their swimmers.
