Discuss...
Please use the following questions to review, discuss, and understand this week’s sermon in your Renew Group:
●How many cycles of judgment from God are there in Revelation 6-18? What are some connections between these cycles of judgment? How are these judgments connected? Who does these judgments? What are some reasons for these judgments?
●What are some ways that you see that Revelation 6-7 is connected to Revelation 4-5? Who is the Lamb in Revelation 6 according to Revelation 5? Why is the Lamb able to open the seals?
●Please read Matthew 24. What do you see in Revelation 6 that connects with Matthew 24? How does what Jesus said in Matthew 24 about the time between His ascension and the end of the world that helps us understand Revelation 6?
●Go through each of the 6 seals and briefly describe what is taking place. What is the outcome of these judgments?
Apply...
Please use the following questions to respond personally to and apply (so that we can be hearers and doers) the truths of the text:
●Revelation 6 ends with a question, “Who can stand?” According to Revelation 7 who can stand in the face of God’s severe judgment? Do you know the gospel? Have you turned from your sin and trusted in a life-changing way in Jesus Christ? What will be the cost, according to Revelation 6, if you do not? What will be the reward, according to Revelation 7, if you do? What questions do you have? What are you going to do?
●What are some truths you learned about God and about Jesus Christ? How do your thoughts need to change because of Revelation 6?
●What does Revelation 6 mean for your involvement in personal evangelism? Who are 3-5 people in your life that you have a relationship that are not yet a believer in Jesus Christ? Are you praying for them regularly? What is one step you can take this week towards telling them the gospel? What do you need so that your good intentions in evangelism become reality? How can your renew group help?
●Revelation 6 depicts that transience of this world. What is your life built on? Where are you investing your time, energy, money, and other resources? Are you investing yourself in eternity or in temporal endeavors? What does God want you to value? What actions does God want you to take because of Revelation 6?
Consider taking notes for how you can pray for your brothers and sisters in your group based on your discussion as each strives to apply the truth of God’s Word and seeks to share the gospel with those far from Christ.
