Dear Parent/Carers

The King Edward VI School Music Tour - Austria

Departure Morning on Saturday 23 July

On the morning of our departure please use the Sixth Form car park to drop off students. Students must arrive at USH between 6.00 – 6.30 where passports, original EHIC and spending money in named re-sealable bags will be collected. We will run a staff led ‘bank’ every morning in Austria when students can take out an appropriate amount of Euros for spending that day. This will provide better security when on excursions or in Salzburg. You can make any final updates to your SV5 medical forms and we will take all this information with us.

Music Instrument Insurance and Travel

Students must make sure that their instruments are insured for travel abroad. I use a company that can be found at you may be able to extend your household insurance at no or little cost or find another company who will do the same job for a more competitive price. If you take a musical instrument, it should be packed in a hard case. For general baggage, which will go in our trailer, students should use a medium size soft case. We will not have room for large cases and hard backed cases are more difficult to pack.We have asked for copies of the main page of student’s passport and EHIC, which they can keep with them for identity purposes throughout the tour. The staff will collect in the originals to put into the Markushof Youth Hostel safe. Students will need a small ‘hand luggage’ bag with overnight toiletries, snacks and books, etc. for the coach journeys. Mobile phones are useful on the Music Tour but not essential. All expensive phones, precious jewellery and anything of significant value should be left at home. There is a ‘public’ phone in the Markushof Youth Hostel.

Allergies

Due to some students having severe allergies, no nuts or any foods containing nuts, peppersor any type of citrus fruit like oranges, satsumas, lemons, limes and grapefruits must be brought on to or consumed on the coaches.

Balconies

All rooms are at the Markushof Youth Hostel are en suite with a shower and balcony. Any student attempting to cross over the balcony to another room will immediately be sent home at the cost of their parent/carer.
