HURLING

The junior hurlers will face Slieverue in the opening round of the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Junior Hurling Championship in Bennettsbridge on this coming Sunday at 12.00 p.m. Best of luck to the players and management.

Hard luck to James Bergin and the Kilkenny Under-21 hurling squad who were defeated by Limerick in the All-Ireland Final in Thurles on Saturday afternoon last.

CAMOGIE

Commiserations go to Danielle Morrissey and Roisín Phelan who were part of the Kilkenny camogie team narrowly defeated by Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Final in Croke Park on Sunday last.

PROGRESSIVE 25 CARD GAME

Conahy Shamrocks GAA Clubhouse hosts a progressive 25 card game, starting on Sunday, September 24th, commencing at 8.30 p.m. All are welcome to participate.

LOTTO RESULTS

The numbers in the recent Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club Lotto draw were 29, 31 and 38. There were no jackpot winners, so the consolation prize winners were Shane Mulhall, Mairead & Michael Bergin, Ger & Helen Byrne, Olive Lacey and Eamon & Ann Delaney. The promoters’ prize winners wereJulie Jackman, Nora Delaney and Helen Cahill. This week’s jackpot now increases to €5,500.

RUN CONAHY

Run Conahy will take place this year on Sunday, October 1st. After the success of last year, it promises to be another great day out and a perfect opportunity to get the parish active! Full details of the race can be found on the Facebook page ‘Run Conahy’ and at Timed and chipped, this is a route that takes in beautiful scenery along the route. All proceeds go towards Conahy N.S. There are Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male & female in both races and goodie bags for 10k entries. All 10k entries will receive a medal while there will be medals for all children taking part in the 5k run too. Give yourself a goal and get ready for Run Conahy 2017! You can run, jog or walk and enjoy a great spread in the community hall afterwards!

Do you know a business in Conahy that has made a positive impact on your community? The award seeks to recognise the outstanding work of local businesses that are committed to giving back to the area through sponsorships, volunteer programmes and environmental initiatives.Nominations close on Monday, 18th September; thereafter candidates will be asked to put forward a full application. A shortlist of finalists will be announced and go on to the interview round in November.The winners will be announced on Saturday, 25th November at the Chamber’s annual black-tie banquet and awards’ ceremony in Lyrath Estate Hotel.
