Become Eligible for a Scholarship to study Sciences at IUPUI by Participating in the Project SEED Summer Program

Scholarship Information

A Project SEED Scholarship has been established through the generosity and efforts of a longtime employee of Eli Lilly & Co., who has also worked with the Indianapolis Project SEED Summer Research Program both as leader and mentor for over 35 years. This scholarship will award $3,500 scholarships, renewable for four years pending anoverall GPA of at least 3.0, to former Project SEED participants to pursue science or science-related degrees, including Nursing, Informatics, some Engineering majors, and Public Health at IUPUI .

Project SEED Summer Research Program

Only those students who have participated in the local Indiana Section Project SEED Summer Research Program are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Project SEED (Summer Experience for Economically Disadvantaged) is a national program directed by the American Chemical Society that encourages economically disadvantaged high school students to pursue career opportunities in the sciences. Guided by scientist-mentors, selected and qualified students experience eight weeks of hands-on laboratory research at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis School of Science, IU School of Medicine, or supporting Indianapolis-based private companies such as Eli Lilly and Company.

Applicant Eligibility

The major criteria for eligibility is having participated in the local Indiana Section Project SEED Program and committing to pursuing a science-related degree at IUPUI. {Remember; you MUST also apply to IUPUI for acceptance (or already be a student at IUPUI) in order to be eligible for this scholarship.} A selection committee will award the scholarship to chosen applicants based a combination of factors including financial need, academic standards, and scientific interests. The small number of eligible individuals for this scholarship provides an improved chance of competing for and receiving this award for the interested applicants. While receiving this scholarship in college, certain academic requirements must be met for continued eligibility for succeeding years.
