THE JOURNEY OF HOPE – FROM VIOLENCE TO HEALING
New Yorkers Against the Death Penalty
The Journeyers are family members of murder victims and innocent people who spent years in prison charged with capital crimes, all of who now support alternatives to the death penalty. They will be talking about their experiences in New York for the first time.
During these talks family members recall their tragedy, their struggle to heal, and their reasons for supporting alternatives to the death penalty. They talk about how they survived the violence that suddenly came into their lives and how they reclaimed peace through it, which made them renounce state sponsored killings. In a few cases these survivors have even reconciled with the killers of their loved ones.
