Dear Participant,

The following is information you will find useful during your stay in Malta.

You may book your airport transfers (Airport/Hotel/Airport) prior to your arrival in Malta. The airport offers a shuttle service to all hotels however booking has to be made online prior to your arrival through maltatransfer.com. Transport is usually every 30 minutes and this goes from one hotel to the next. The charge for this is 8E per person per way. Those of you who prefer to take a taxi directly to the hotel should ask for a taxi at the Taxi Stand in the arrivals’ lounge. This would cost around 25E per car to hotels in Sliema/St Julians/Valletta.

Registration for participants staying at Excelsior Hotel will take place on Sunday 18th between 1630 & 1730hrs, while registration for participants staying at Corinthia San Gorg Hotel and Corinthia Marina Hotel (the two hotels are within 5 mins walking distance from each other) will take place between 1800 & 1900hrs at the San Gorg. We kindly ask you to register on Sunday. Registration for participants staying in other hotels will take place on Monday 19th prior to the Opening and throughout the day at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus ie the meeting venue.

At Registration you will be given a conference bag together with an envelope containing your name tag, receipt of payment of your registration/social activities as well as tickets for each social activity you have booked and paid for. It is absolutely necessary to present these tickets at each tour as proof of payment. – this is necessary especially where meals are concerned because your ticket indicates any dietary requirement you have informed us of. Those of you who have booked the Gozo tour will also have the ferry ticket – unless this is presented upon boarding the ferry another ticket will have to be purchased.

The conference will take place at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus, Old University Building, St Paul Str, Valletta. Transport (mini vans) will be provided from the conference hotels with the exception of Castille Hotel since this is on the same street as the University building. We kindly ask you to be outside the hotel main entrance on time. Those of you who miss the van may take a taxi. For your information the Garage responsible for transport is Paramount Garage. On Monday 19th Professor Juanito Camilleri, Rector of the University of Malta will be hosting a reception for all conference delegates and accompanying persons at the Atriju Vassalli, University of Malta Msida Campus at 1930hrs. (Dress code : Informal). Transport from all conference hotels departs at 1910hrs returning at 2045hrs.

The following is a transport schedule for those who have booked tours :

Tuesday 20th July – Prehistoric Temples

0830hrs A coach will be depart from Phoenicia Hotel, The Mall Floriana (by bus terminus just outside Valletta Gate). Participants staying at Castille, Excelsior, Phoenicia and Osborne Hotels will take this bus. The coach then proceeds to New Tower Palace in Sliema (approx arrival 0845hrs) and to Corinthia San Gorg Hotel (approx arrival at 0900hrs) . Participants staying at Corinthia Marina Hotel are kindly asked to take the bus from Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.

Tuesday 20th July – 3 Cities Tour (walking tour + dinner)

1815hrs from Diplomat Hotel to Tower Palace Hotel to Preluna Hotel (the 3 hotels are 2 mins away from each other)

This tour includes a sea crossing in small boats therefore please wear comfortable shoes. Participants who miss transport are kindly asked to take a taxi to Vittoriosa. Following the walking tour a dinner will be held at Lupanara Restaurant. Return transport to same hotels will be provided at around 2300hrs

Wednesday 21st July – Blue Grotto and M’Xlokk

0830hrs from outside Phoenicia Hotel main entrance (for Castille Hotel, Excelsior, Phoenicia group) to New Tower Palace Hotel (approx arrival 0845hrs) to Corinthia San Gorg (approx arrival at 0900hrs).

Wednesday 21st July – Mdina (walking tour + dinner)

Friday 23rd July – Valletta (walking tour)

0830hrs Corinthia San Gorg Hotel to New Tower Palace Hotel.

Participants staying at any hotel in Valletta (including Excelsior Hotel) are kindly asked to meet outside Phoenicia Hotel at 0850hrs.

Friday 23rd July – Dinner at Grand Ballroom of Radisson Golden Sands Hotel

We are aiming to take the 0945hrs ferry from Cirkewwa terminal to Mgarr harbour, returning on the 1630hrs ferry.

2000hrsfrom St James Ditch (for Castille Hotel group) to Excelsior Hotel, to New Tower Palace Hotel to Corinthia San Gorg to Zebbug

The guide will meet the Castille Hotel group in the lobby of the hotel and walk to St

James Ditch.

Kindly note that whenever transport is not available from Corinthia Marina Hotel participants are kindly asked to make use of transport available from Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.
