The information within this document is for the teams who plan to attend the Midwest Region Presidents Cup to be held June 12 - 15, 2014 in Overland Park, Kansas.

WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS!

Your team is about to embark on new experience, a real memory maker, an experience that will never be forgotten. As a way to prepare you for this history-making journey, the Region II Presidents Cup Committee has written this letter to welcome, congratulate and prepare you for this regional event. The Presidents Cup was envisioned as a tournament that would provide teams from every US Youth Soccer State Associations that consistently did not participate on the National Stage, and teams from State Associations whose efforts were often eclipsed by stronger, more dominate Clubs within the very large State Associations with an opportunity to compete on a National stage. 2014 is the seventh year that the Region will qualify teams through this playoff system.

PREPARING YOUR TEAM

REGION II The region has communicated with your state association to determine the teams eligible for this event. Communication about the tournament will be through your designated state representative (if available) and/or your designated team contact person. A team must have on its roster at that time at least 9 players that were on its roster at its state qualifying event with not more than 22 players. Thereafter, no changes to the roster will be permitted under any circumstances. Players added to the Region II Presidents Cup competition may not have participated in the National Championship Series, unless designated as the qualifying event by the state association. The players on the final roster may not have participated in the most competitive division of the Midwest Regional League (MRL) and are not permitted to participate in the Region II Regional Championships.

Please prepare your players for the tournament by encouraging them to hydrate weeks before they travel to Overland Park. The games will be played on turf fields and the weather can contribute to high field temperatures. Your players should be begin drinking additional water long before they travel to Kansas.

MIDWEST REGION HOTEL RESERVATIONS

Teams that participate in the regional event will be required to stay with the designated hotel group while in the Overland Park area. Teams will be placed in hotels in by the T3 Travel Group Teams are required to utilize T3 Travel.

The Midwest Region Presidents Cup committee will adjust all age group schedules based on the number of entries. While the tournament plans call for a four (4) day event the number of teams entered in an age group could reduce the number of days teams will be expected to compete. When requesting your hotel reservations please make certain you are aware of the cancellation policy at the property you select.

TRAVEL

MIDWEST REGION – Travel to the Overland Park area is to be arranged by the team so that all are ready to play on Thursday afternoon. In the event less that 8 teams are entered in an age group the schedule may be condensed. The teams will be notified as soon as the tournament entries close to advise them of the tournament schedule.

ON LINE TEAM REGISTRATION – The US Youth Soccer Region II Presidents Cup will utilize an on line registration program for all teams who qualify for the 2014 tournament. One representative must register the team on line utilizing the American Eagle on line event registration system.

CHECK-IN FOR PRESIDENTS CUP
There is a REQUIRED Check-In for all teams on Wednesday, June 11, 2013 at the Overland Park Soccer Complex (13700 Switzer Road)Additional Check in will be offered on Thursday June 12, 2014 at the Overland Soccer Park. Teams must check in one hour before their first Regional Presidents Cup game.

Only one individual needs to attend the check-in.

CHECK IN PROCEDURES

During Check-In you will need these documents for each player/coach; PLEASE PUT THE INFORMATION IN ALPHETICAL ORDER.

4) Each player/coach must have an official USYSA pass (ID card). The pass shall have a current photograph of the player/coach and or comply with the current state association player pass rules

5) A signed Medical Release Form for the current year for each player.

6) Four (4) copies of your current roster, approved by your state

7) One copy of the original roster for the team dated prior to February 15, 2013.

All rosters must have the approval of the State Association. Please do not offer

Rosters, player or coach passes only approved by your club.

At Check-In each team will be provided three (3) Bench-Passes. These Passes must be worn about the neck on the lanyard provided and be visible at all times. Persons not displaying these passes will not be allowed in the Team Technical Area. Teams will sit on one side of the field, spectators on the opposite side.

Each team will play three games if the number of entries in each age division is at least 8 teams. The schedule will be adjusted in the event fewer than eight (8) teams enter in an age group. A copy of your roster verified by Presidents Cup Committee must be provided by your team to the referee prior to each game, indicating the jersey numbers of each player. Match rosters are limited to eighteen (18) players. Players ineligible for the match should have their player cards in their possession on the bench.

REGION II – All games will be played at the Overland Park Soccer Park in. A map will be provided to the team representative and will be available at the region web site.

Based on the number of entries per age group the basic tournament plan is to play one (1) game Thursday, one (1) game on Friday, one (1) game on Saturday with a final game on Sunday. In the event any particular age group has less than eight (8) teams a semi final game will not be necessary as the winner of each bracket will advance to the final game. Tie break procedures have been established in the tournament playing rules. In the event of travel issues teams may be required to play more than one game per day.

ADAPTING TO THE WEATHER

REGION II The tournament schedule is subject to change due to the number of entries and weather. Teams may have to play two (2) matches on any given day. Please prepare your teams for the weather; Kansas weather can be very unpredictable in June. Encourage all players to start hydrating for this event a few weeks before they plan to travel.

TRAINERS- Overland Park
A Medical Trainer will be available to deal with injury and illnesses. The local fire department or rescue squad will respond to emergencies within five minutes to a call from the field. Trainers will be available for pre game taping, if the player provides the tape, on a first come, first served basis. Injury and illness take priority, and they will not take reservations.

TEAM AWARD – The team awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams following the completion of each final game. One (1) designated team representative from the Region II Champions will then meet with the Tournament Director (David Flanagan) following the awards presentation to discuss the travel plans for the national event in Auburndale, Florida. Due to the travel distance tournament winners may decline to travel to the National President Cup, in the event the tournament winner does not wish to travel and participate in the National event in Greenville South Carolina the opportunity will be extended to other competitors.

CODE OF CONDUCT

My team will conduct itself in a manner that respects the other players, coaches, referees, administrative staff, and the host facility of the 2014 US Midwest Region Presidents Cup.

My team understands that if any team member is found using or in possession of drugs, alcohol or in violation of any USYSA Rule, the result may be the team’s immediate ejection from the 2014 Midwest Region Presidents Cup.

My team will comply with all rules and requirements of the Midwest Region and US Youth Soccer and the Presidents Cup during competition including but not limited to participation in all scheduled games.

My team understands that if they fail to play a scheduled game, the team will be removed from the competition and additional sanctions may be taken against the team by the Midwest Region, US Youth Soccer or its Regions or by the State Association through which the team is registered
