Source: / NGN Management Focus Group
Title: / Liaison to ITU-T SG 4 and SG 15 (Q14), TeleManagement Forum, 3GPP SA5, 3GPP2 TSG-S (WG5), ETSI TISPAN (WG8), ATIS TMOC, OASIS (WSDM), OSS/J, MEF, IPDR, DMTF, TTC, OCAF, SNO, and IETF Operations and Management Area

In our liaison statement NGNMFG-OD-020-R1, dated 27 April 2006, we sent you the phase 2 report on the activities of the NGN Management Focus Group (NGNMFG) which was prepared for its sponsoring organization, ITU-T SG 4. This liaison included version 2.0 of the Roadmap document.

During its meeting in Beijing, 24 May - 2 June 2006, ITU-T SG 4 decided to:

-  approve the work of the NGNMFG;

-  approve publication of the NGNMFG Roadmap document v2.0;

-  approve the continuation of the NGNMFG under the current leadership, method of working, and modified Terms of Reference (ToR).

During the considerations, SG 4 decided to amend the ToR. The main change, described in section 2, Objectives and Tasks, is the addition of an explicit check with Service Providers and Network Operators to assure the completeness and relevance of the NGNMFG's primary deliverable, the NGN Management Specification Roadmap.

To implement this check, the NGNMFG is organizing a meeting focused on the needs of Service Providers and Network Operators. This meeting will be held in the 4th quarter of 2006, preferably colocated with an NGN-GSI event. This will provide opportunity for interaction with other ITUT groups working on NGN standardization. A detailed agenda will be provided later.

We kindly invite you to participate in this event. In particular, you should note the NGNMFG is actively soliciting speakers from the Service Provider and Network Operator community for this event.

The amendments to the ToR are included in version 4.0, which is attached to this Liaison Statement. Version 4.0 replaces version 3.2 which was included in version 2.0 of the Roadmap document.

Please find also attached version 2.1 of the Roadmap document. Version 2.1 is equal to version 2.0, except for the removal of the now obsolete ToR version 3.2.

Roadmap v2.1 and ToR v4.0 form the foundation for the continued work of the NGNMFG. Be sure that your contributions to the work of the NGNMFG are very much appreciated.

Any response to this liaison should be made to
