Pupils who have difficulty in selecting courses are encouraged to seek additional help from the counselor, teachers and if possible, from people employed in occupations you may wish to consider in the future.

What It Takes to Earn an Ohio Diploma
Beginning with the Class of 2018
House Bill 487 updated Ohio’s graduation requirements to ensure that all students are ready for success in college and work. As a result, the Class of 2017 (10th-graders in the 2014-2015 school year) will be the last students to take the current Ohio Graduation Tests. The new requirements take effect with students entering ninth grade in the 2014-2015 school year (Class of 2018). Additionally, every student in the Class of 2018 and beyond will have the opportunity to take a nationally-recognized college admission exam free of charge in Grade 11. The honors diploma remains another option for students.

All students will be required to sign up for a full schedule of courses with no more than one study hall per semester. (If offered)
At the time of graduation, each student will have fulfilled all academic and financial obligations.

MEETING REQUIREMENTS OUTSIDE TO THE LOCKLAND HIGH SCHOOL REGULARDAY
The District will accept credits earned toward graduation in another school district only from those schools accredited or approved by the State Department of Education. Credits must be submitted to the guidance office prior to the date set for that graduating year.
CREDIT FLEXIBILITY
Through Ohio Senate Bill 311, the State Board of Education has adopted a plan that enables students to “earn units of high school credit based on demonstration of subject area competency, instead of or in combination with completing hours of classroom instruction.” This plan is referred to as “Credit Flexibility.”
The Lockland School District has developed a credit flexibility plan that will enable students to earn high school credit by: a) completing coursework, b) testing out or demonstrating mastery of course content, c) pursuing one or more educational options in accordance with the District’s Credit Flexibility plan, or d) any combination of the above. This plan goes into effect beginning with the 2010-2011 school year.
Students choosing to take advantage of this opportunity must complete the Lockland School Credit Flexibility Application and submit it to the high school guidance office no later than the last school day in May for the upcoming school year. All applicants will receive notification of approval within seven school days in order to accommodate appropriate schedule changes. Any student who applies after the deadlines will not be eligible for the credit flexibility option during the upcoming school year.
For detailed information about how credit flexibility may apply to your child’s academic planning or to obtain an application, please contact the Lockland high school guidance office at 563-5000 ext. 175. Counselors and administrators welcome your questions and will be happy to guide your family through the process.
SUMMER SCHOOL
Summer school credits will be accepted toward graduation if administrative approval has been given prior to registration for the course.
Credits for College Credit Plus (CCP)
College Credit Plus (CCP) will replace Ohio's Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEO) and
all other dual enrollment programs beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. CCP provides high
school students the opportunity to take college level courses for free and receive college credit while
still in high school.
