The Importance of Being Earnest – cube

Create illustrative sides using words and/or quotes and color/pictureson six sides of the cube(use examples from the play to illustrate your six sides- give examples from the entire play- 2 from Act I, 2 – from Act II, 2- from Act III).

  1. Define farce. Give one examples from the play- use quotes or paraphrases. Label the Act it is from.
  2. Give examples and label two types of irony (verbal, situational, dramatic) found in the play – use quotes or paraphrase. Label the Act it is from.
  3. Describe and draw your favorite satirical scene. Label the Act it is from. Or associate satire from the play with a contemporary movie, tv show, cartoon, etc.
  4. Apply it –create a bio-poem (acrostic) for one character- any Act will do.
  5. Analyze one example of puns /epigrams. (“earnest” is the most common epigram in the play). Record and write what it means.
  6. Argue why one of the following themes of the play, example – marriage, earnestness/honesty, Victorian social conventions/etiquetteis the most important. Write a few sentences. What Act has evidence of this?
