Grant Criteria and Guidelines

Deadline:

Applications are accepted beginning January 1st and are due by May 1st.

Who may receive distribution from this Fund:

  • Any non profit that assists children or young adults with special needs;
  • Barberton City School District or non profit private school;
  • Individual with special needs, with a sponsor which may include a non profit agency, a social worker employed by a non profit agency, or a representative from a public or non profit private school. The Barberton Community Foundation is only able to award funding to organizations certified as a Section 501(c)(3) and Sections 509(a)(1) or (2) of the Internal Revenue Code OR is a government unit described in Section 170(c)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(v) of the Code. The Foundation is unable to award monies to individuals.

Other criteria:

  • Funds can be used to provide or help provide comfort , enjoyment and quality of life to the beneficiary.
  • Items can include: education, therapy, assistive or adaptive equipment and/or furniture, technology, therapy toys, bath, toilet and incontinence items, items for mobility and/or movement, seating, sensory motor, wheelchair and/or accessories, camps respite, playground equipment and other items or activities that will help with full inclusion and integration into the community
