The GSA Achievement Awards for Innovation in
Personal Property Management

Mission:

The Office of Government-wide Policy (OGP) administers award programs commemorating innovations and achievements throughout the Federal Government. The awards not only recognize hard work and innovation, but promote contributions of leading best practices.

Each year, the Office of Personal Property Management Policy (MAD) recognizes exemplary initiatives, innovations, best practices, and projects with two distinct awards: The Miles Romney Achievement Award and the Gold Star Award of Excellence.

The Miles Romney Achievement Award for Innovation in Personal Property Management Program:

The Miles Romney Achievement Award and GSA Gold Star Award are presented annually to federal agencies, employees, or teams that demonstrate innovation and ingenuity in managing our federal personal property assets.

The Miles Romney Achievement Award for Innovation in Personal Property Management was instituted in 1998 by the Office of Government-wide Policy, to recognize;

●Innovative personal property management practices

●New property management practices that maximize the reuse of government assets

●Improvements to current property disposition processes

The GSA Gold Star Award

The Gold Star Award is to recognize a federal agency’s innovative implementation of Executive Order 12999. The award is to publicly recognize and draw attention to the Federal government’s commitment to improving access to computer technology in American education.

Agencies are encouraged to share their Computers for Learning innovative, cost-effective, or streamlined practices or policies that have improved access to computer technology in America’s classrooms. These may include practices that:

●Protect educationally useful federal equipment for transfer to schools and educational nonprofit organizations;

●Lead to the efficient transfer of educationally useful federal equipment to schools and nonprofit organizations;

●Assist in teachers’ professional development; and/or

●Help connect America’s classrooms to the World Wide Web.

Who is eligible to enter?

All federal government employees and members of the armed forces are eligible to enter. Civilian contractors and employees of GSA's Office of Government-wide Policy are ineligible.

Who selects the winners?

An independent panel of personal property management experts’ will evaluate the applications and select one winning entry for each category. Judges will use the criteria listed in the Entry Package as a guide for evaluating each entry and will score the entry out of 100 possible points.

How are the winners recognized?

The awards are recognized and presented annually at the National Property Management Association (NPMA), National Education Seminar (NAS). In addition, the two winning entries and other submitted entries are highlighted in the Office of Personal Property Management’s “Award Winners and Nominees” online publication that encourages the adoption of innovative and best practices across the Federal Government.
