A Message from our Principal
Dear French Run families,
I want to thank everyone for coming and enjoying our Communication party. We saw some wonderful, creative costumes. The children had such a wonderful time. I look forward to seeing all of you at Parent/Teacher conferences. Please remember how important it is for parents and teachers to be on the same team.

VOLUNTEER POLICY
As a reminder, everyone who comes in to the school and works with children one-on-one must be fingerprinted. We have volunteer packets in the office, but you must go to Central Office to be fingerprinted. It takes 2-6 weeks for results to come in, so please get fingerprinted early, so that you are not disappointed on the day you want to come in or go on a field trip with your student. If you have been fingerprinted in the last 5 years, you do NOT need to be again.
French Run Firebirds Breakfast
Friday November 9th will be our first Fantastic Firebirds breakfast of the year. Students are nominated by their teacher each quarter for this reward. This is in recognition of students who have exhibited exemplary behavior and commitment to learning. Only 60 Firebirds are honored each quarter.

Giant Eagle and Kroger Sign Up
Please help us get money for our school.
Remember to go online and re-sign up your cards to French Run Elementary. You just have to have your Giant Eagle and Kroger cards linked to French Run and we get cash!!! Thanks!!
French Run Firebird Fellows
You are invited to join this group of volunteers. A Firebird Fellow meets once a week for a half-hour to an hour assisting a child in reading, math or whatever the classroom teacher feels the child needs. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends you are encouraged to help in this much needed program. The children always look forward to seeing their “Fellow” each week.
If you have any questions, please see me in the Fast ForWord Room (9) or call 367-1950.
All volunteers are required to be fingerprinted. This can be done at our Central Office free of charge.

Dismissal
Your child is learning up until the bell rings at 2:40 everyday. Please limit early dismissals to doctor’s appointments and emergencies only. Early dismissals will be considered unexcused otherwise.
PTA Spotlight
We are beginning to build a brand new PTA. We are looking for people to help. We will need help with COSI, fundraisers, parties, field day and many activities throughout the year.
We are also collecting Box Tops for Education. Our goal for this year is to collect 15,000 box tops (approximately 37 per student). By reaching this goal, we earn $1,500 for our school. Please send them to school in a bag or envelope marked with teacher name.
We invite you to join us for our next meeting on Monday, November 12th at 5:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room to learn about more great things going on at French Run.
Absences/Early Dismissals/Change of Transportation
Please be sure to call the attendance line (367-1972) prior to 9:10 a.m. or use ( ) each day your child is absent from school or will arrive late. You should indicate your child’s name, teacher’s name and the reason for his/her absence. Also please forward a note to the teacher when your child returns to school.
We discourage early dismissals, but when your child must leave early for an appointment, please send a written note to the teacher the morning he/she will leave early. In addition, if your child will not go home in the normal manner at the end of the school day, please send a signed note to their teacher indicating the change for that day.

Thank you all for a very successful fundraiser. Fund Raiser pick up is set for Thursday, November 8th!!
News from the Lunchroom
My Name is Lori Sobul and I am the head cook here at French Run. Along with Martha Beals, we will be providing your children with wonderful, nutritious meals.
Please remember to send your child with lunch money so that can receive that days menu item.
If you think your child may qualify for free or reduced lunch, and you have not already filled out a yellow form, please pick one up and turn it in as soon as possible.
