RECYCLING

The Following items are Recyclable:

NEWSPAPER/CARDBOARD – Recycle all newspapers, glossy inserts, magazines, junk mail, phone books, brown paper bags and corrugated and grey cardboard boxes, dry and free of contaminants. Cardboard must be flattened, bundled and placed curbside with newspapers. Waxed cardboard is not accepted!

COMMINGLED – All plastic containers coded 1 through 7 on the bottom, glass and aluminum or tin food and beverage jars or containers, detergent containers, aerosol cans and clean aluminum foil. Rinse thoroughly. Labels and caps need NOT be removed. NO PLASTIC BAGS, foam plastic materials, film plastic, vinyl, light bulbs, crystal, window glass, broken glass, ceramics, kitchenware, pesticide/herbicide bottles or any other containers containing potentially hazardous materials such as motor oil, pesticide or chemicals.

E-WASTE (Electronics, Monitors, TVs) – Scheduled Curb Side Pickup Day is Wednesday (PICKUP IS SUSPENDED DURING HOLIDAY WEEKS AND THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER). Acceptable Equipment – Televisions, computers (desktops, monitors and notebooks) computer mice and keyboards, printers, scanners, fax machines, cell phones. These items are recyclable, therefore cannot be mixed with household garbage.

GRASS CLIPPINGS & LEAVES (ORGANIC YARD WASTE) – Pickup up every Wednesday from April through October. These materials must be placed either in a container labeled “yard waste” or in biodegradable bags. Residents may obtain “yard waste” labels from the Highway Department and Town Hall at no charge. PLASTIC BAGS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. AFTER OCTOBER LEAVES AND GRASS CLIPPINGS ARE PICKED UP ON AN UNSCHEDULED BASIS AND MAY BE RAKED TO THE CURB. FOR SAFETY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT PUT THESE MATERIALS ONTO THE ROADWAY.

BRANCHES/BRUSH – Branches and brush must be placed at the curb and tied with string only in bundles not greater than 4 feet in length, or more than 40 pounds in weight and no more than 2-cubic yards (3’x 3’x 6’). Branches/brush is picked up on the same day as Organic Yard Waste.

ALL BRUSH AND BRANCHES MUST BE SEPARATED FROM THE GRASS AND LEAVES.

METAL – Includes the collection of metal appliances and other items. NO aluminum siding, paint cans, automotive parts, or scrap metal. Place at curbside no earlier than the night before a scheduled collection. When Recycling a Refrigerator you must remove the doors. (PICKUP IS SUSPENDED DURING HOLIDAY WEEKS AND THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER).

REMEMBER – RECYCLING IS A LAW!!!
