Coaches serve at the invitation and pleasure of the board and the coaching director is the primary point of contact to attract and develop good coaches, and by extension, to develop good programs.

The ACE works closely with VSAHA rep: the VSAHA rep is first exposed to new state and USA hockey guidelines/regulations, and it is through good communication between the VSAHA rep and the coaching director that those guidelines are implemented effectively.

VSAHARepresentative

Serves as liaison between state and CSB. Attends monthly meetings in Barre (which last 2-3 hours). The VSAHA Rep may serve on a sub-committee which may hold monthly, or bi monthly meetings/conference calls).

The VSAHA Rep balances and manages CSB’s goals and objectiveswith VSAHA’s goals and objectives. Effective communication and relationship management is important for this role. A strong relationship with VSAHA ensures the smooth running of CSB’s programs though the timely implementation of VSAHA directives and the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue.

Sponsorship Director

Responsibleforcreatingcorporatesponsorship materialandannualsponsorshipprogramforCSB.Thiswillinclude identifying/pursuing/capturingcorporatesponsorshiprevenueannually. The purpose of the Sponsorship program is to provide a vehicle to fund need based scholarships for CSB members who qualify.

Issues jersey numbers to new players and maintain the jersey database. Serves as CSB point person for miscellaneous equipment items as needed (i.e. equipment give-aways, acquiring USA hockey jerseys, etc.). Inventories CSB equipment and maintain the equipment cage at Cairns (clean, organize, replace lock as needed, etc.)

Team Manager Director

Oversees all team managers and answer various questions regarding scheduling, posting game scores, player eligibility and rosters and the ever changing VSAHA rules and regulations. The most important aspect of the job is to keep schedules and rosters "in-check" and the Team Manager Director helps impart his/her experience to new and experienced managers at the team level. Keeps mangers up-to-date with all team management issues that arise as the season goes along. This role requires approximately 1-3 hours/week.

Web Director

Responsible for recommendation, execution and maintenance of all the technology based solutions for CSB. Director initially sets up and maintains CSB website as a communication and organization portal. Web Director also supports directly or indirectly almost all other functional areas: registration and rostering, scheduling, tournaments, coaching, news, communications, sponsors etc.

Works with vendors to manage domain registration, email, website, communication, and social media tools, integration with state and national required tools, player and coach registration, and requirement tracking, payments, scheduling, etc.

On-going Training and support of the toolset for both Board members and organization volunteers and parents is also a time consuming aspect of the role.

The Web Director has no real “slow period” as there is communication and working with the function that heats up at various aspects of their year. It is probably busiest, pre-season as communications are at their high point and registration and web updates all need to be set up ahead of season start. Training of new board members or volunteers, etc are also at their peak. Once the season is underway, scheduling, coaching, team maintenance and communications take precedence, toward the tournament and end of season, communication has a secondary high point. Post-season, the preparation for the next season begins again.

Web Director serves as communications director, providing timely notification to CSB members as necessary.

Web Director works closely with Registrar. Overlap exists in areas of registration, payment tracking, reporting and rostering issues. Note that these matters are the ultimate responsibility of the Registrar but the Web Director assists greatly in facilitating these efforts.

Web Director receives the monthly minutes from the board meetings as posts to the website.

Technical expertise needed to be Web Director: There are no programming or technical demands since CSB uses “off the shelf” solutions — but the Web Director should be comfortable with logging in to “back end” administration tools, and not daunted or confused by technology. If you can set up and manage your home wifi routers, are comfortable or have ever used blogging tools etc, you can learn and manage the CSB technology tools. A marketing background is also beneficial, for layout, graphics, etc. It is less about being a Hockey or on ice person, and more about comfort with Technology concepts and assisting other functions with the tools CSB uses to get their functions done.

Tournament Director

Responsible for organizing, coordinating and scheduling all tournaments including CSB Away Tournaments, end of season State Playdown Tournaments and any end of season Regional & Sectional Tournaments.Tournament Director may form and oversee sub committees for individual tournaments. Position requires about 6 hrs. per month May-August, 12 hrs. per month Sept-Nov & about 16 hrs. per month, Dec-Jan, increasing to18 hrs./week Jan thru end of season.

Individual tournament responsibilities (which may be fulfilled by subcommittees or volunteers) include but are not limited to: decorations, tournament scoring, filling in when needed for scoresheet, scoreboard, penalty boxes and generally making sure everything is running smoothly.

Events Director

Responsible for organizing, coordinating and running CSB events. Certain events will fall under 100% purview of the Events Coordinator such as Skills Night, Picture Night, Golf Tournament, CSB Squirt Winter Classic Tournament while other events will require the assistance such as the Hosting of the State Tournament. (Note: in no year are all of these events run; the Squirt Tournament is an annual event; all other events will be run at the discretion of the Events Director in coordination with the Board). This person will also be working closely with other board members on various existing as well as potential new projects. No experience necessary.

Post season organization: After the season ends since it is still winter CSB usually gets 4 sheets of ice and use the rink dividers to get the CSB girls playing 1/2 ice games. Try to organize all the girls to attend at least one UVM Women's hockey game and wear their jerseys.
