The Fergus and Bonnie Hughes Scholarship

History

Through the generosity of Professor Emeritus Fergus Hughes, a longtime faculty member in Human Development and Psychology, and his wife Bonnie Hughes, a UW-Green Bay alumna, we are again able to offer a scholarship opportunity to our Human Development and/or Psychology majors. A scholarship of $1,040 for the 2018-2019 academic year will be awarded to a Human Development or Psychology major who best exemplifies interdisciplinary achievement both in and out of the classroom.

The donors wished to recognize one of our majors who: a) has a strong overall academic record, b) has completed at least 18 credits of human development and/or psychology courses (i.e., classes with a HUM DEV and/or PSYCH prefix), and c) has a record of service to the University and/or community.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

The scholarship recipient will be selected by a committee of two or more faculty members, including the chairperson of Human Development. The committee will make a decision by considering how well each candidate meets the requirements and/or application elements listed below.

  • Interdisciplinary focus of work both in and outside of class
  • Service, volunteering, and extra-curricular achievements
