HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

GENERAL:

Juniors will complete the “Senior Picture Information Sheet” during their English classes on Monday, April 11. Juniors should take time over the weekend to discuss with their families the best option for their senior pictures by reviewing the mailing that was sent home at the end of spring break.

Seniors: Tickets are now on sale in the Activities Office for Senior Dinner. Senior Dinner is a social event for the Class of 2016 to kickoff the last month of senior year. The cost is just $15 a person and includes dinner, beverages and entertainment. Tickets will be sold until 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 28th. Be sure you have no outstanding fines – cafeteria, library, etc before purchasing your ticket.

Do you want to know who will be voted as Best Dressed, Best Eyes, Most Likely to Succeed, or Most Athletic for the Class of 2016? Want to find out if a senior willed something to you, or if you are a senior, do you want to leave a legacy to the underclassmen?If so, the deadline is today to preorder a copy of the Senior Edition of The Oracle for $2.Stop in the Activities Office and sign up! Let’s continue the SA tradition!

Seniors: The Prom Guest Application is now available on the High School website under the “Quick Links” section or for pick up in the Activities Office. If you would like to bring a guest from another high school or a 2015 high school graduate to prom, you and your guest must complete this application. All forms are due by May 4th to be considered – don’t procrastinate!

ACTIVITIES:

The Feminist Student Union will meet after school this afternoon in Room 304.

Attention Ecology Club: Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 13th from 2:30-3:30 PM. Plan to meet in the greenhouse after school. We will be transplanting vegetables and planting seedlings.

DVD’s of this year’s Spring Musical, “The Addams Family,” will be available from SATV. To order your copy, please stop in the Activities Office and complete the form along with $20. Checks should be made payable to SAHS. Order forms and payment should be turned into the Activities Office no later than Friday, April 15th.

Cheerleading tryout information is now available in the Activities Office. Practicehas already begun with tryouts taking place on Monday, April 11th.

There will be a Spanish Gateway Clipper Cruise on May 3rd. Tickets cost $30 and include a buffet dinner, a live band and dance lessons! Spanish Honor Society students who signed up need to see Ms. Anton in Room 112. Please don't miss out on this fun experience!

GUIDANCE:

The registration deadline for the May SAT is TODAY. Registration should be completed at The May 7th SAT is NOT offered here at SAHS but is offered at local schools.

Attention students taking the ACT this Saturday: ACT rosters are posted on the Guidance Office windows. Please stop by to check your room assignment. Report by 7:45 AM this Saturday.

Attention students taking the ACT test this Saturday: If it is snowy tomorrow morning, please check for any cancellations on the local news stations.

The Shaler Area School District is now accepting applications for the summer employment program. This work involves cleaning, scrubbing, waxing floors, repairing furniture and buildings, moving equipment and supplies, and maintaining the building and grounds. Applicants must be available from 6:00 AM until 4:00PM, Monday through Friday and be 16 years old by June 6th. Applications are available and due in the Guidance Office by
April 15th.

GATE:

Attention GATE students: Please remember to attend your 4th Period meeting this week. There are several opportunities that have beenput on the April calendar.

ATHLETICS:

Students & Staff - It’s time for this year’s Titan Bowling Battle to help determine who the best bowlers are in Shaler Area and raise funds for the Varsity Bowling Team. The event is at Perry Park Lanes on Sunday, May 1st. The cost to bowl is $10. Sign up in the Activities Office.

The Boys Tennis team will travel to North Hills to take on the Indians at 3:30 p.m. for their game at 4:00 p.m. The Varsity Baseball team will host Fox Chapel at 4:00 p.m. at Matulevic Field. While the JV Baseball team will travel to Fox Chapel

The Jr. High 9th grade Baseball team will travel to Seneca Valley for their game at 4:15 p.m.

The JV & Varsity Softball teams will travel to Seneca Valley High School for their games at 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Our Jr. High 9th Grade Softball team will host North Hills at Anderson Field at 3:30 p.m.

The Boys Lacrosse team will host Norwin High School at Biles Turf Field beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Tomorrow the JV Volleyball team will travel to Derry Area for a tournament at 9:00 am.

OTHER:

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE: Representatives from Kennywood will be in the Main Lobby on Monday, April 11th from 7:00 – 7:30 selling FunDay tickets. The cost is $26 cash or money order only.Tickets may also be purchased online at for an additional processing fee up until the day of our school picnic date on Saturday, May 7th.

Join friends of Brian Tavitas this Sunday, April 10th at Mt. Troy Fire Hall for a benefit Spaghetti Dinner from 2-7 PM. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. There will be raffles and auctions throughout the night, and takeout is available as well.We hope to see you there!
