LUCIFER: THE FALLEN ARCHANGEL

Isaiah 14:10-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19

Lucifer was Satan’s original name – the son of the morning. Although after his fall, everything about Satan became dark and his activities speak of the night and darkness, he still tries to present himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14,15).

Before his fall, everything about him was glittering, glorious and gracious but after the fall, it now speaks of darkness, dirt, deception, death.

Lucifer is no longer the son of the morning, today he has become the agent of the night. He is no longer in favour of the morning star, he is now the promoter of the night pentagram (symbol of witchcraft, the barformith, the star turned upside down). Lucifer wanted to be GOD. The reverse took place. He became a DOG. He wanted to be like the Most High. He ended up becoming unlike the Most High.

ANOINTED CHERUB IN THE HEAVENLY SANCTUARY

Ezekiel 28:11-19; 11:22; 10:1,4; 9:3; Isaiah 14:12; 6:1-8; Job 38:7; 2 Corinthians 11:14,15; Hebrew 9:5

The Devil as a created being was awesome, handsome and glorious. He was the anointed cherub that covered the throne of God and led the divine train. He was perfect in beauty and gloriously attired with every precious stone (Ezekiel 28:11-19). Even ordinary cherubs of lower rank than Lucifer are called cherubims of glory (Hebrews 9:5).

As the anointed cherub that covereth, the Devil enjoyed the glory of God (Ezekiel 11:22; 10:1,4; 9:3). He was the most important angel – the most senior archangel. He was the highest angel in the heavenly sanctuary.

He was called Lucifer – the son of the morning – to depict his nature, brightness, privilege and endowment (Isaiah 14:12; Job 38:7). Satan still tries to mimic the former nature and glory (2 Corinthians 11:14,15).

ACCOMPLISHED CHORISTER AND HOLY SINGER

Ezekiel 28:13; Isaiah 14:11; Job 38:7; 1 Corinthians 10:19-22; Psalm 106:36,37; Revelation 9:20,21; Daniel 3:1-28; Exodus 32:17-21

Music was woven into the fabric of the Devil when he was created. The scripture speaks of “the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created” and “the noise of thy viols” (Ezekiel 28:13; Isaiah 14:11).

Job speaks about “the morning stars sang together” (Job 38:7). Lucifer led heaven’s worship. He was an accomplished chorister and holy singer.

This endowment was never removed from Satan. The gifts of God are without repentance (Romans 11:29). Is it any surprise that the world is awash with satanic music today? Music plays a very prominent role in idolatry which is essentially satanic worship (1 Corinthians 10:19-22; Psalm 106:36,37; Revelation 9:20,21; Daniel 3:1-28; Exodus 32:17-21).

Satan’s ability to make music is incredible. He has perverted this divine endowment. Just consider the sales of music devoted to promoting sin, glorifying the Devil. Consider the popularity of many of these secular hits.

AMBITIOUS CREATURE AND HAUGHTY SERVANT

Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Revelation 12:1-11; Proverbs 11:2; 16:18; 29:23; 3:34; 1 Peter 5:5,6; James 4:6.

Satan’s prominence in the courts of heaven, his gift of music making and worship leading, his beauty and glory led him to become overambitious. The created thought of dethroning the creator, the laity planned to replace the Lord.

Satan led a revolt against God. He wanted to be like God and usurp God’s position and power. This led to his downfall. He became corrupted and his endowment became perverted. He was cast out of heaven (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Revelation 12:1-11). Satan’s pride brought him low (Proverbs 11:2; 16:18; 29:23). God always resists and casts out and casts down the proud but gives grace to the humble (Proverbs 3:34; 1 Peter 5:5,6; James 4:6).

ABIDING CASTAWAY AND HEAVENLY SEVERANCE

Ezekiel 28:11-19; Isaiah 14:12-17; Luke 10:17,18; Revelation 12:10,11; Job 1:6-22; 2:1-10; 1 Peter 5:8,9; Zechariah 3:1-5

The Devil was cast out of heaven following his rebellion. He is still a castaway today. He is roaming the streets of the world like an aimless refugee with occasional forays into God’s presence in order to bring accusations of the saints to God (Job 1:6-22; 2:1-10; 1 Peter 5:8,9; Revelation 12:10,11; Zechariah 3:1-5).

The Devil was cast out and his link with heaven severed. He was brought down from his glorious pinnacle to the sides of hell (Ezekiel 28:11-19; Isaiah 14:12-17). Even today, the Devil is still falling from heaven like lightning (Luke 10:17,18).
