April 18th

The Effects of Drugs

What:

You will work in a group to research the detrimental effects of a specific drug. In your research, you should focus on the medical effect on the brain and the body and how that compares specifically to the effect on the adolescent brain. Highlight the “internal/neurological” effects as well as the “outward” signs and symptoms of prolonged drug use. You should look at the increase/decrease in usage in our nation as well as our state specifically. Examine the way the drug is manufactured/harvested. Briefly, research rehabilitation programs in New Mexico. Please include a list of your resources on the back of your poster.

How:

You will demonstrate your learning by designing a trifold poster. The poster should be visually engaging and informative. All text should be typed, but some exceptions may be made per Hillary’s approval. Spelling, grammar, and handwriting matter! You will be graded on the accuracy of the information, the accessibility of the information, the visual presentation, and your personal understanding of the information. You will stand next to your poster and will have the chance to explain your learning to others.

When:

You will have in class Tuesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 20th to work on your presentation. Use your time wisely. We will have the “presentation fair” on Tuesday, April 25th.
