Contract / Part- time fixed term appointment until 31 March 2012 (with possibility to extend)
Hours / 3 days or 21 hours per week
Job Purpose
To administer the community grants programme reporting to the Chief Executive, Trustees, funders and other stakeholders on the impact of our grants.
To undertake research into social need and poverty, assessing the impact on people’s lives and exploring the actions needed to tackle it.
To develop programmes which meet existing and emerging needs
To ensure that appropriate management and administrative policies, procedures and systems are in place to efficiently and effectively deliver the grants to various projects.

To receive, assess and process all grant applications to the Charity presenting the full reports to the Grants Sub committee for approval
To visit as part of the assessment process all applicants who meet the criteria
To ensure that grant holders submit their monitoring reports in a timely fashion and with all required information, collating and analyzing that information and producing evaluation reports for the funders which assess the impact of the grants
To work in conjunction with the Finance Manager, to ensure that all financial records are properly kept, recorded and accounted for and that accurate cash flow statements and budget reports are routinely produced.
To review and implement EBCC’s policies and procedures in relation to grant giving

To develop existing and new grant programmes in conjunction with the Chief Executive
To develop best practice for evaluation of grants and grants programmes
To work in conjunction with the Corporate Relations Officer to develop excellent internal and external communications e.g. website, newsletters, annual reports, events, etc

To undertake research (both qualitative and quantative), to identify the major types of poverty, its causes and its impact on people’s lives so that the charity’s future funding strategy is based on the real needs of those in our community.

To attend on occasion the Board of Trustees evening meetings- the post-holder will keep a log of hours worked and take time off in lieu

  • Educated to degree standard particularly in social policy and research; Masters degree preferred
