Action Plan
The District/School will form Parent Advisory committees with representation from: parents (including representation from significant subgroups), teachers and administrators to review parent involvement policy and how parent involvement dollars will be spent.
The Parent Advisory committees will meet to review the parent involvement plan as well as achievement data and strategies for improvement.
Each school will distribute to parents in writing the parent involvement policy in a language parents can understand (can use district or write own).
Each school will convene an annual meeting at a convenient time in which all parents of children participating in the Title I program are invited in order to inform parents about Title I and their right to be involved.
The District/School will educate teachers, pupil services personnel, principals and other staff, in how to reach out to communicate with, and work with parents as equal partners.
Annual training will be provided to teachers, secretaries, principals and other staff to increase meaningful parent involvement.
Parents will be provided with each school’s Code of Conduct.
Flexible parent/teacher meetings and parent requested conferences will be arranged when necessary.
Collaborate with parents in establishing parent-student-teacher compacts.
The District/School will provide the necessary coordination, technical assistance and other support to schools in planning and implement effective parental involvement activities to improve student academic achievement.
Parents will be involved in the planning, review and improvement of the school parental involvement policy and in the schoolwide plan.(If using School Improvement team. ensure that Title parents are adequately represented)
The District/School will provide assistance to parents of children served by the school district or school, as appropriate, in understanding topics such as the following: the State’s academic content standards, the State and local academic assessments including alternate assessments, how to monitor their child’s progress, and how to work with educators, by doing the following:
The district will develop documents that clarify achievement standards and proficiency levels for students.
The school will include articles in building newsletters that explain the standards and assessments, parenting tips and parent training information.
The District/School will provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve their children’s academic achievement.
Buildings will invite parents to participate in Parent nights and building advisory committee meetings. The focus of the meetings will include literacy training.
Provide parents with grade-level materials and training to help them support their children's learning at home
The district/school will use effective communication strategies: Powerschool, email, newsletters, translated communication, website, parent teacher conferences, reasonable access to staff, opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's class and observation of classroom activities
