AUBURN UNIVERSITY

The Department of Civil Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions starting Fall 2009 in

Construction Engineering and Management,

Geotechnical Engineering,

Hydraulic and Hydrological Engineering, and

Pavements/Materials Engineering.

Assistant professor appointments are anticipated, but higher ranks will be considered. Faculty members are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop externally funded research programs, direct graduate students, and engage in department, college, university, and professional service. The candidate selected for each position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required. Each new faculty member must hold a doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field at the time of appointment and should be able to complete all requirements for professional engineering registration in a timely manner. Candidates must have teaching and research qualifications that complement those of the current departmental faculty in their respective areas.

Auburn University is a land-grant institution with an enrollment of 24,000. The Department of Civil Engineering offers B.C.E., M.S., M.C.E., and Ph.D. degrees and has 24 faculty, 475 undergraduates, and 80 graduate students.

Civil Engineering faculty have excellent opportunities for funded research through the Highway Research Center and the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT). The Auburn-Opelika metropolitan statistical area has a population of 127,000, excellent public school systems, a regional medical center, and the distinction of being recognized as one of the “best small towns in America.”
