The DEMA Show 2002 a Valuable Resource for Travel Agents

Dive Industry Offering ICTA Credits and Opportunity for New Revenue Sources

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – In an effort to help travel industry members branch out and secure new revenue sources during this time of our nation’s economic uncertainty, the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) in conjunction with Travel Agent Magazine will provide travel agents with a unique opportunity to expand their dive travel knowledge while gaining Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA) credits during its annual trade show, The DEMA Show 2002, taking place October 22-25, 2002. The DEMA Show is bringing together the world’s most comprehensive collection of cutting-edge scuba products, services and scuba diving destinations to the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV where travel professionals can become better acquainted with our burgeoning industry, according to Regina Franklin, executive director of DEMA.

“Exotic travel destinations are becoming synonymous with scuba diving, as more and more travelers begin to explore the underwater environment,” said Franklin. “The DEMA Show management is taking special care this year to provide not only an enjoyable atmosphere for travel and dive industry professionals to network, but a well-rounded educational experience as well. It’s critical, as scuba diving continues to grow as both a sport and hobby, that travel agents familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of selling dive travel.”

As part of the Show’s education program, The DEMA Show is including a valuable conference sponsored by Travel Agent Magazine for attendees tailored specifically to the travel industry, The DEMA Dive Travel Conference. Designed for travel agents, tour operators, and retailers, the workshop will increase attendees’ understanding of dive travel promotions, the state of the dive travel industry, dive travel marketing, and general business and marketing practices. It will not only provide travel professionals with the working knowledge and support materials to be successful in selling dive travel, but will also offer agents the opportunity to earn ICTA credits. The workshop will take place October 21, 2002 from 8:30 am – 6 pm with a $125 registration fee. Conference attendees will also be provided full access to The DEMA Show 2002 for the entire four days of the event.

“We recognize that the DEMA Show 2002 Dive Travel Conference offers the perfect opportunity for travel industry professionals to learn extremely relevant information regarding dive travel and all that it can do for their businesses,” said Jake Hill, Group Publisher of Travel Agent Magazine. “In these challenging times, we highly recommend attending this conference to learn how dive travel can open the door to new audiences and allow agents to remain competitive in this constantly changing industry.”

The largest and most important trade show of its kind, The DEMA Show 2002 provides attendees the unique opportunity to network with other travel industry colleagues, dive industry professionals and representatives from over 300 destinations throughout the world.
