The Death Princess

Augustin looked into the cosy, orange flames of the fire, with a weary and unpleasant face. The thought of having no twin is hard, especially when you're wishing to see one again. Though Augustin never really knew her twin, she had memories of her tucked away in her mind and in sketches of when they were small kids in 1585. But now the year is 1603. It has been 18 years since the last time they were together. Tomorrow will be the date of the second of January, it will be a Tuesday. Tomorrow she must travel into the depths of Blackwood Forest, to collect wild berries like her poor, sick mother had asked her to. Some of these rather delicious berries are huckleberries, chokecherries and gooseberries. These are for their dessert the following night. The next morning Augustin stepped into Blackwood forest and heard a sorrowful moaning sound, enough to make anyone cry. Augustin remembered that when she was little her mother had told her that there was a young lady that wept in the forest all the time. But no one has ever seen the lady, just heard her weep.

She travelled towards the sound collecting the wild berries as she went. The sound led her to a neat little opening tucked away in the middle of the wretched forest. In there was a young woman about the age of Augustin, but she had very white, pale skin and dark rings around her eyes. She looked

dark. She was sulking around in sad ballet dance, and when she touched things they died. She must have sensed Augustin because she finally spoke in a well projected voice "Augustin your sister is dead. Now I will haunt you forever." Augustin ran. She knew she was being chased. (she was a very fast runner) At that moment Augustin could feel breathing down her neck and ran a lot faster. Augustin looked behind and yelled "you must be my sister, because she disappeared into this very forest. Also because she loves ballet." She replied with "You're right! I am your missing twin." And she stopped.

"Come home to us, we miss you." Augustin said "1 will" said the death princess. So they walked home. They got home and their mother was surprised and overcome to see the death princess standing in front of her- a face she had missed and not seen in many years. "Darling Florence I'm glad to see you" said her mother. "My name is Florence?" she asked in shock. "I must have forgotten my name after so long all alone." "Yes, it is you" said her mother.

From that moment on, Florence was forever welcomed in the house. She grew to love the house and everything and everyone in it. She also learned to control herself with her dark powers. Augustin wasn't lonely anymore, and her mother soon got better. Though Florence still looks how she looks now, she doesn't moan. The next day the girls will have their nineteenth birthday, the first birthday they will have together in a long time.
