The Confederate Philatelist welcomes articles on all facets of Confederate States postal history and philately, including stories about "a favorite cover," the history surrounding a particular item, and biographical information as well as more scholarly philatelic studies.

Because each issue is assembled entirely on the computer, please submit proposed articles on disk (CD-ROM or 3.5-inch floppy) or e-mail attachment. Articles may be submitted in the following formats: MS Word, Rich Text Format (RTF), or Word Perfect. We are not able to convert file in Mac format. If absolutely necessary, manuscripts for The Confederate Philatelist may be submitted cleanly and clearly typed for scanning. Captions for illustrations, bibliographical references, footnotes, etc., should be grouped at the end of your manuscript. Please use the following format for your references:

Quality illustrations are essential. Those which accompany electronic submissions should be scanned at no less than 300 dpi in *.tif format. If that is not possible, please contact the editor before submission. Hard-copy maps and drawings should be submitted in black ink on white paper. We will scan such illustrations and convert to electronic versions. Illustrations may be any size, but may be reduced to fit into a page format. Paper reproductions of covers, documents, etc. can be submitted as glossy, black and white photographs. Black and white photocopies generally do not convert to good illustrations.Color photocopies have a much better chance of being successfully reproduced in print.

The editor reserves the right to edit submissions and has final decision on layout. Articles requiring extensive editorial changes will be returned to the author for revision, with suggestions for improvement. Publication of articles is usually on a first-in and first-out order, but inclusion of an article is based on layout requirements of each issue so that publication of a submission may be delayed.

If you have an idea for an article but need help in getting started, the editor will be pleased to provide guidance. Proposed monographs and larger works also are welcomed. Please consult the editor before submission.
