GIFT AID

We will soon be putting in a Gift Aid claim for the tax paid by parishioners on donations to the church in the year ending 5th April 2015. If you have signed a Gift-Aid form previously and are still paying UK tax, you do not need to take any action. If you are paying enough UK tax and have not yet signed a Gift Aid form you can still do so and it will apply to the previous year as well as future years. Provided you give by envelope or standing order this will enable the parish to reclaim 25p for every £1 you give at no extra cost to yourself. Gift-Aid forms are available from the Parish Office. However, if you have previously signed a Gift Aid form and have now stopped paying tax you will need to let the parish office know.

CAFOD LENT FAST DAY

An update on the total amount collected by our Parish for CAFOD’s work; the final amount is £985.18p, which the government will match £1 for £1. Thank you for your generous compassion for those living in poverty, and for fasting in solidarity with them.

A major part of the Trust’s work is to raise awareness of those exploited by the trafficking industry and campaign on their behalf. Please take a leaflet or magazine from the table at the back of the Church for more information.

IF YOU GO IN TO HOSPITAL

Catholics in hospital are unlikely to receive an automatic visit from the Catholic Chaplain, as this information is now systematically withheld from Chaplains. If someone is sick in hospital, please let us know here at the presbytery, or ask the staff on the ward, so that your loved one can be visited whilst in hospital, and receive Holy Communion and any other Sacraments from the Chaplain.

I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD

111. Q. What will it be like when the world comes to an end?

A.  When the world comes to an end, Christ comes – for all to see. The dramatic upheaval (Lk 18:8; Mt 24:3-14) that are foretold in Sacred Scripture – the wickedness that will be plainly manifest, the trials and persecutions that will put the faith of many to the test – these are only the dark side of the new reality: God’s definitive victory over evil will be visible. God’s glory, truth and justice will stand out brilliantly. With Christ’s coming there will be “a new heaven and a new earth”. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away” (Rev 21:4).
