To provide a needs-led, evidence-based music therapy service as part of the multi professional team in the wider delivery of rehabilitative therapy and psychological support to children at The Children’s Trust for neuro-rehabilitation.

Will be responsible for their own caseload, discussing referrals with line manager to ensure good team-working.

MA / PG Diploma in Music Therapy

Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Experience of working as a Music Therapist in either Acquired Brain Injury or Paediatrics essential

Duties and Key Responsibilities

1.Service Delivery

  • Providing individual and group sessions of music therapy for children as required.
  • Providing support to behavioural programmes devised for childrenand young people.
  • Liaising closely with parents.
  • Information-sharing within the music therapy team to assist in meeting referrals and delivering a coherent music therapy service to children.

2.Training

  • Participating in induction programme and other relevant training as discussed with line manager.
  • Providing training on music therapy techniques to others as appropriate.

3.Records & Information

  • Keeping appropriate, accurate records of sessions, following The Children’s Trust record-keeping standards and those of the HCPC.
  • Contributing to inter-professional reports, such as Reviews, SEN guidance and Discharge reports.
  • Participation in goal setting.
  • Contributing to review meetings.
  • Being a source of expert opinion.
  • Joint working within the clinical environment and liaising with the MDT team as appropriate for the needs of children.

This post is, however, exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, not therefore, entitled to withhold information about convictions, however long ago these occurred, including those which for other purposes are ‘spent’ under the provisions of the Act. In any event of employment, any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Trust.
