Within General Medicine, three mega-firms provide ward-based care for inpatients. This post will be part of mega-firm C and will entail a two-month period in haematology. You will gain experience in the acute management of some haematological emergencies, especially sickle cell disease, as well as inpatient and day-case management of some haematological malignancies (lymphoma, myeloma etc). You will have the opportunity to attend two or more outpatient haematology clinics and an anticoagulation therapy clinic. There is dedicated FY2 teaching and you will be encouraged to carry out an audit (time permitting). The on-call rota is approximately 1 in 7.

The firm comprises two consultants, Dr Francis Matthey and Dr Helen Yarranton, as well as a staff grade and an FY1. A Specialist Registrar may be appointed in the future.

We aim to make the experience on the firm both educational and fun.
