Hours of Work: Part Time, Fixed Term,21 hours per week

Catalyst Programme Overview

The Carlow Catalyst Programme for Women is a needs based programme;the main aim of which is to increase women’s access to employment, education and training. The target group for this programme is women in Carlow town and County, who are not in employment and who are not in receipt of a job seekers payment. Particular attention will be paid to women coming from marginalised or disadvantaged groups. This programme is funded by the Irish government and the European Social Fund (ESF).

The programme includes:

•One to One Support and Information Provision

•Training and developmental supports aimed at building confidence and self esteem

•Job seeking and career preparation skills

•Accredited training

•Meaningful work placements

•Employment related skills that will improve future employment prospects

•Progression Support – that will support participants into employment and/or further education and training

•Information and links to relevant support agencies or services

Key Duties

  • To support the Coordinator in the day to day running of the programme, including general project administration, scheduling and timetabling, data collection and maintaining detailed, accurate and confidential records
  • To support the Coordinator in the recruitment and enrolment of project participants
  • To provide key worker support to project participants as directed by the Coordinator
  • To design, deliver and assess QQI accredited modules on multiple programmes
  • Experience of delivering QQI level III modules relating to work experience, personal development and computer applications,desirable
  • To instil, by example and through direct training, proper work attitudes and work behaviour in each participant
  • To provide participants with adequate feedback about their progress
  • To support participants in attaining their progression objectives
  • To evaluate and provide timely feedback to the Coordinator on the needs and progress of each learner
  • To work with the Coordinator in identifying suitable work placements and to supervise same if required
  • To liaise with employers across various sectors to identify work vacancies and/or work placement opportunities
  • To compile written reports as required
  • To attend all relevant team meetings and training as arranged by St. Catherine’s
  • Any other duties appropriate to the position as may be assigned

Person Specification

  • 3rd level graduate with a qualification in community education, social science, social work, community and youth work, psychology, teaching or a related field
  • Qualified and experienced QQI tutor, with the ability to manage a training environment. Minimum Train the Trainer qualification required.
  • Experience of working within the areas of social inclusion or educational disadvantage
  • An understanding of and commitment to meeting the needs of the target group
  • Experienced in providing group and one to one support
  • Ability and desire to motivate, mentor and support participants
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient MS Office user
  • Ability to maintain detail and confidential records
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • Access to own transport and a full drivers licence essential
