SkillUSA California Region 3 at LATTC

This is a major communication with you before our Skills regionals begin on February 2 at Los Angeles Trade Tech College. We are sending you this email to give you the details and hopefully answer all your last minute questions without an overload of phone calls and emails for the last few days!

1-Where Is the Skills contest location?

February 2 – Los Angeles Trade Tech College •400 West Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca. 90015

Get the map directionson Google, Mapquest. At LATTC we meet in the south tent (see map). Parking enforcement has been notified that SkillsUSA will be there and will not be citing provided you park in lot 23rd street staff lot and the Olive St parking. One note: You should use the 23rd St. lot for buses and use the Olive St. Structure for people bringing personal vehicles. There is no school in session. Look for 12”x24” signs pointing to the event locations as you arrive.

2- We will determine whether we will have an awards ceremony at LATTC after we see how our scoring data is entered into the system.

3- Please arrive by 7am. Yes, it is early, but the first contest starts at 8am and we cannot register and give out badges and paperwork to 800+ people from 7:55 to 8:00! (See the problem?)
4- Note that we have more students in SkillsUSA region 3 this year and we ask for you patience and understanding if things do not go smoothly. Some contests that should be hands on may have to give way to simple demos, though we are trying to make all contests with 7 or more people a “hands on” or “live” contest.

5- Agenda…Most of the room locations and coordination lead persons are in place. Contact Brent r Jim f you wish to volunteeror assist. This will be GREATLY appreciated.
6- There is no portfolio requirement. Each student will turn in a resumé hard copy to the judge before competing. (If there is no resumé the student will lose 50 points from the 1000 point contest total) Dress code will also have a 50 point deduction.
7- Be sure you have ONE Form 1 for EACH student (available on the State Website and ONE Form 2 for the school.
8- Please do not email or phone us with questions before you look this letter over. Additional information can be found on the National ( the State ( websites.
