The aim is to help you achieve the maximum potential of your camera to get in close to the subject, whether it is flowers or insects, aquatic or terrestrial. We will be using methods of getting ultra close to aphid or pollen on anthers. The DSLR camera is ideal but almost any camera can be used to achieve stunning results. A wide variety of methods will be covered and demonstrated in a simple and easily replicated way. As well as your own equipment plenty of extra equipment, such as different lighting methods, will be available for participants to use.
Try-before-you-buy: it is possible to do the course without bringing your own camera. Use the equipment we have and see for yourself the best options for what you are trying to achieve. If you do this option, please let us know in advance to make sure we have sufficient cameras.
We will be using the immediate, local environment for material and inspiration, concentrating on skills and techniques. Some subjects will be taken back to the Centre to look at methods of staging the material, although the welfare of the material will be paramount. All participants will be provided with a computer and basic software. Focusing software will be demonstrated and available to trial. If you have any question on the suitability of the course, your camera or needs, please contact Julian through the Centre for clarification.
