Scene 1 In the castle of the Sheriff of Nottingham

The Sheriff: Basil! Basil! Where is Basil, where is Basil? Basil!

Basil: Coming, coming.

Sheriff: Basil, come here:

(Basil come over and the Sheriff smacks him over the head)

Sheriff: Basil! How much money have I got?

Basil: How much money?

Sheriff: Yes, how much ... money ... have ... I ...got?

Basil: Altogether?

Sheriff: Yes, altogether.

Basli: Including the money in the bank?

Sheriff: Yes.

Basil: And the money under your bed?

Sheriff: Yes, yes!

Basil: Well, er.. more or less... nothing.

Sheriff: Nothing! What do you mean nothing?

Basil: You haven’t got any money.

Sheriff: I haven’t got any money! This is terrible! More taxes, the people must

pay more taxes!

Basil: The people haven’t got any money.

Sheriff: They can sell things!

Basil: Sell things? They only have their clothes and their beds.

Sheriff: Beds, they have beds? They don´t need beds! They can sleep on the

floor! Basil, Go!!!

Scene 2 In the village

Messenger: Listen! Everyone listen! I have an important news from the Sheriff ...

(They people interrupt the messenger)

People: Boooooo, booooooooo (Throwing things at the messenger)

Messenger: Who threw that?

(Everyone tries to look innocent)

Messenger: I have an important message...

People: Booooo, booooooooo (Throwing more things)

Messenger: From the Sheriff of Nottingham.

People: Booooo, booooooooo

Mess: Listen, listen, everyone must pay 10 gold coins to the Sheriff.

Farmer: 10 gold coins, 10 gold coins, I haven’t got 10 gold coins!

Baker: I haven’t got 5 gold coins!

Blacksmith: I haven’t got any gold coins!

Mess: You have one week!

(Exit the messenger)

Blacksmith: This is terrible, terrible!

Baker: How can we pay 10 gold coins?

Farmer: What are we going to do?

Blacksmith: Who can help us?

Baker: I know, Robin Hood!

Blacksmith: Yes, Robin Hood.

Baker: Robin Hood will help us!

Farmer: Where does Robin Hood live?

Baker: In Sherwood Forest, come on, let’s go!

(They all exit)

Scene 3 In Sherwood Forrest

(Enter Maid Marion and Beatrice)

Maid Marion: Hello, my name is Maid Marion and these are my friends.

Beatrice: My name is Beatrice.

Emily: My name is Emily.

Maid Marion: We are going to visit my Uncle.

Emily: This forest is very dark, is it safe?

Beatrice: There are some robbers who live in the forest, but don´t worry!

Maid M: Robbers! How exciting, maybe we’ll meet some!

Beatrice, Emily: Marian!

(Enter Little John and Friar Tuck)

Little John: Stop!

Marion, Emily, Beatrice: Aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Little John and Friar Tuck chase the women around the stage until they stop them in the middle)

Maid Marian: Who are you?

Emily: What do you want?

Little John: Your money. You are in Sherwood Forrest and so you have to pay tax.

Friar Tuck: Have you got any money?

Maid Marian: Listen! I am a very important person.

Friar Tuck: A very important person? Wonderful, wonderful! Are you rich?

Maid M: I am very rich and very important!

Beatrice: Marian! Shut up, shut up! (To the robbers) We haven’t got any money,

no, no, we are very poor!

Robin Hood: Hello

Maid Marian: Who are you?

Robin: I am Robin Hood. I steal from the rich and I give to the poor.

Maid Marion: Why?

Robin Hood: Because the horrible Sheriff of Nottingham steals the people’s money.

Friar Tuck: Come on, give us the money.

(Robin and his men take the money)

Beatrice: Stop, stop, no, no, no!

Robin: Thank you very much, have a nice day!

(Exit Robin and His men)

Maid M: What a horrible man. My Uncle will put them in prison.

Beatrice: Yes, but he was very handsome.

Maid M: Handsome, well yes ...what! Handsome! I didn´t notice! A horrible man, a very horrible man! Come on, let´s find my Uncle’s castle.

(Exit Robin Hood and his men. Marion and her friends wander into the audience looking for the castle while the Sheriff and Sir Brian come on stage a prepare the next scene)

Maid Marion: Look, the castle.

Sir Brian: Maid Marion, welcome.

Marian: Oh Uncle, Uncle, (She is upset)

Sir Brian: Marion, are you Ok?

Maid Marion: It was terrible, terrible!

Beatrice: We met some robbers in the forest.

Maid Marion: Robin Hood.

Emily: He took our money.

Sir Brian: Robin Hood took all your money?

Emily: Yes, what a horrible man!

(The Sheriff steps forward)

Sheriff: Yes, he is a very very horrible man.

Marian: Who are you?

Sheriff: Let me introduce myself. I am the Sheriff of Nottingham, but you can call me...The

Sheriff . Don’t worry, Maid Marion, Robin Hood will pay for this!

Beatrice: Yes?

Sheriff: The people of the village will give me Robin Hood. They will

give me Robin Hood, or they will pay me 100 gold coins.

Emily: And if they don’t?

Sheriff: I will put all the women and all the children in prison! Ha, ha, ha!

Maid Marion: You can’t put the women and children in prison!

Sheriff: Oh yes I can!!!! Ha, ha, ha!!!!!! Come on, let’s go!

(Exit Sheriff and Uncle Brian)

Beatrice: The people haven’t got 100 gold coins.

Maid Marion: The Sheriff will put them in prison.

Emily: Robin was right. The Sheriff is a really bad man.

Maid Marion: We have to go into the forest to warn Robin

Beatrice: Go into the forest?

Emily: Marian, are you mad?

Maid M: We must go! We must find Robin!

(Exit Maid Marion, Emily and Beatrice. Enter The Sheriff who had been listening)

Sheriff: Interesting, very interesting. I think I will follow them.

Scene 4 In the forest

Baker: Where are we?

Farmer: I don’t know.

Blacksmith: Come on, this way.

(They move to the edge of the stage. Enter Maid Marion, Beatrice and Emily)

Emily: Where are we?

Beatrice: In the Sherwood Forest.

Maid Marion: Come on, this way.

(Both groups begin walking across the stage slowly, backs to each other so that they will eventually meet in the centre)

Farmer: What was that?

Blacksmith: What?

Farmer: That noise?

Baker: Probably a bird.

Maid Marion: What was that?

Emily: What?

Beatrice: Did you hear something?

(They all bump into each other)

Everyone: Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maid Marion: What are you doing here?

Baker: What are we doing here! What are you doing here?

Beatrice: We are looking for Robin Hood.

Farmer: Robin Hood! So are we.

Emily: Where are we?

Blacksmith: I don’t know, it’s very dark.

Beatrice: And very quiet.

(Enter Robin Hood)

Robin Hood: Hello! (Loudly)

Everyone: Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robin Hood: What are you all doing here?

Maid Marian: Robin, Robin, it’s the Sheriff, he’s going to make the people in

the village hand you over to his soldiers.

Emily: If they don’t, they’ll have to pay 100 gold coins.

Will Scarlet: I think the Sheriff wants a fight, Robin.

(The Sheriff steps out)

Sheriff: Exactly!

Everyone: The Sheriff!

Sheriff: Soldiers, attack!

(There is a big fight)

Soldier 1: Sheriff, there are too many of them.

Sheriff: Basil, take the girl, quickly!

Maid M: Aaahhhh! Stop! Let go of me.

Soldier 1: Be quiet, you’re coming with us.

Sheriff: OK Basil, let’s go, to my castle.

Maid M: Robin, Robin, help, help!

(Exit Sheriff with guards and maid Marion)

Little John: Robin, look! The Sheriff has got Marian.

Robin: What can we do?

Friar Tuck: Come on, let´s follow them.

(Exit everyone. Enter Sheriff, guards and Maid Marion)

Sheriff: Welcome to my castle.

(Enter Robin and his men from the side)

Little John: Look, the castle!

Will S: I can see a lot of guards.

Friar Tuck: I think I might have an idea, Robin.

(The two guards are chatting to each other, they can invent a suitable dialogue)

Guard 1: Halt, who goes there!

Friar Tuck: It is me.

Guards: Hello friar.

Friar Tuck: Please forgive me.

Guard 1: For what?

Friar Tuck: For this!

(Friar Tuck hits the guard over the head and knocks him out and Will Scarlet knocks out the other guard)

Robin Hood: We must find Maid Marion.

Will Scarlet: Look, a bedroom.

Little John: The door, it’s locked!

Friar Tuck. Don’t worry. Stand Back!

(Friar Tuck charges at the door and just as he reaches it, the Sheriff says “Goodbye” to Maid Marion and open the door. Friar Tuck goes flying through the door)

Sheriff: Goodbye.

Friar Tuck: Charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Robin and the rest enter the room)

Basil: What is this? Who are you?

Robin: I am Robin Hood. I am fearless, I am brave, I am dangerous!

Marian: Robin, Robin, I knew you’d come to get me.

Sheriff: So did I! Guards!

(Guards 1 and 2 wake up and attack)

(There is a big fight. Suddenly the baker, Blacksmith, Farmer, Beatrice and Emily all charge onto the stage and overpower the guards)

Baker etc: Charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Robin and the Sheriff move the centre stage)

Sheriff: OK Robin, it’s me and you.

Robin: The pleasure will be mine, Sheriff.

Marian: Robin, Robin, be careful!

(Guard 1 and will Scarlet move to centre stage. Robin kills the Sheriff)

Robin: Marian, are you all right?

Marian: Yes, yes, I’m fine. Let’s leave this nasty castle.

Friar Tuck: No, we can’t leave. This castle will be the perfect place for

the wedding.

Marian: Wedding, what wedding?

Robin: Our wedding, of course, if you want to, Marian.

Marian: Of course!

Little John: A wedding and the party of the year!

Will: Of the year? We are going to have the party of the millennium!

Everyone: Hooray, hooray!!!!!!!
