MA Creative Writing Supporting Documents

As part of our admissions procedure all applicants are asked to submit a personal statement and a portfolio of creative writing.

All applicants must submit a sample of 5000 words of their creative writing, this must be prose fiction (a section of a novel with a synopsis, a couple of short stories or a combination of the two). Please note that poetry, children’s fiction, journalism, screen- or playwriting are not appropriate submissions for this MA. Applicants must also submit a personal statement in which they discuss their current writing, ideas for future projects and place their work in the context of contemporary writing (no more than 2,000 words).

Please complete the supporting documents electronically in the box below and then upload to your online application. To do this, please log into the Applicant Portal using your username and password and follow the steps below:

  1. Under the My application section, click on the ‘Manage my applications’ button
  2. Under the More section, click on the ‘Upload a Document’ link
  3. Select the document type of ‘Application Task’ in the drop down list and click ‘Next’
  4. Choose the file you wish to upload (this should be saved somewhere on your pc) and click the ‘Upload File’ button

Please note that files must not exceed 2MB in size. If your document is larger than this, you will need to reduce the size of your file before uploading it, or split it into several documents. You may upload as many files as you like, but each one must not be larger than 2MB.

If you have already submitted these, either by pasting them to the application itself, or if you have already uploaded them through the applicant portal, you do not need to do this again.
