Application for U-M students studying inthe Department of Germanic Languageand Literatures during the Summer Language Program :

Students must complete the below application when requesting the Program Fee option (not-for-credit status). All other current U-M students may register for their Spring term or Summer term language course(s) via Wolverine Access without submitting an application.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the first day of class.

TO APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM FEE OPTION PLEASE SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

  • A completed application, including checkingthe Program Fee option box (question 12).
  • If you are applying for a 2nd year or higher course, please contact Hartmut Rastalsky, , about course placement.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:

  • Upon the student’s acceptance into a summer language course under this option, the student must pay a non-refundable $200 enrollment deposit within 10 business days of acceptance to hold their space in the course. The enrollment deposit will be applied to the cost of the Program Fee, the balance of which is due no later than the first day of class.
  • Program Fees and Program Fee deposits not covered by a fellowship must be paid by check. We cannot accept credit card payments.
  • Program Fees are not paid through Student Accounts or UM-Sponsors. Checks must be made payable to the University of Michigan and sent to the address listed below. Please print the name of the student on the Memo line of the check.

Please note: Students choosing the Program Fee option should not register for the language course through Wolverine Access. Students enrolled in the Program Fee Option will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon the successful completion of the course. Course credits will not appear on a transcript and will not be transferable to other universities. Undergraduate students considering this option are strongly encouraged to discuss this decision with their academic advisor prior to applying.
