With second semester in full swing, he next few weeks will be full of decisions and excitement.

Registration information will be going home through English classes. New families will continue to visit Reynolds and will consider joining this vibrant community. The Reynolds Revue was held on February 17th and showcased all that RJR has to offer. Please be an ambassador in the community and share information with neighbors and friends. Encourage new families to subscribe to this weekly e-newsletter. Attend sporting or arts events. Read information on registration and all the course offerings that are available.

The new block schedule comes with opportunities for trying new things. Teachers can answer questions about courses your student may be considering. Remember, involved parents make a HUGE difference in the school.

Thanks for all that you do to make Reynolds the incredible community that it is.

Your Contributions Make a Difference!

So far this year, $50,000 of your generous contributions has been disbursed to buy books, supplemental instructional materials, science lab equipment, art supplies, calculators and much more. The $21,000 disbursed to the Booster Club has supported the rental/maintenance of athletic fields, the purchase of new uniforms across all sports and the fulfillment of team-specific requests for equipment.

Reynolds High School students, faculty and staff are indeed grateful and benefit from your incredible generosity! Many thanks to all who have donated! Let’s keep it going!

If you have not donated, we ask you to thoughtfully consider doing so. Questions? Please contact Gina or Mark Caudill at or 723-2049.

Registration Update
With the slightly warmer temperatures of late, many of you are probably feeling that "spring is in the air", but here in the guidance office "registration is in the air." Over the next couple of weeks, you can expect to see your student’s registration book come home for family discussion about next year's course selections. After distributing the information to all students, counselors will register students individually beginning the last week in February and concluding by the middle of March. Counselors will provide students their course assignments (again, determined primarily by test scores) as well as feedback from current teachers. Please review all of this information carefully when making final decisions and don't hesitant to email teachers and counselors for additional guidance. Please adhere to all deadlines as often changes are not possible at a later point or over the summer.
We are all trying to keep a positive attitude about all of the changes and will provide updates and information as we navigate the process. Please check the website for a calendar of when we will be working with students so that you will know when to expect registration materials to arrive at your house.
Scholarship Update
There is a new scholarship update on the website. The Winston Salem Foundation website is now accepting applications and most of the merit-based scholarships have an April 15th deadline. The website is Please check out the general scholarship application as well as the ones specific to RJR students. Beginning next week, we’ll profile each of the scholarships that are specific to RJR. Please remember that FAFSA day is February 19th and you can register for it at Also, financial aid deadlines at colleges will be soon so please check specific schools for deadlines and instructions.
Senior Mid-Year Transcripts
Please ask your senior to come to guidance and request mid-year transcripts next week if they need to be sent to colleges. As a general rule, students send mid-year transcripts to schools from which they were deferred or from which they have yet to receive a decision. There are some exceptions, so please ask your student to check with his/her accepted schools to see if they would like to receive an updated mid-year transcript. We did re-rank and re-calculate GPA based on mid-year semester grades for juniors and seniors per board policy.

Please mark your calendars for the next Buildings and Grounds Day on Saturday, March 12 from 2-4 p.m. Come and help make RJR's campus look great. No experience necessary! Earn service hours too! For more information or to sign up, contact Melissa and George Cleland at .
