PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE
This year we are participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge. Our aim is to encourage children to engage in reading for pleasure and learning. If you are completing the challenge at home please return the record form by Fri 4th September so that your child can receive a certificate.
Here are some ideas to help give children a love of reading:
• make time to read aloud to your child every day, even for a few minutes
• show the importance of reading in your daily life and let your child see you read - not only books but recipes, newspapers and text messages for example
• browse a bookstore together
• ensure reading time is fun and exciting
• visit the local library and let your child choose some books to borrow
• for younger children, let them hold the book and turn the pages.
