hank you for requesting information regarding training in the Irlen Method. This two-day seminar teaches specific diagnostic tools for identifying individuals who suffer from perceptual difficulties which affect reading and other activities. In addition, participants learn to use colored overlays to remediate perceptual distortions. For professionals, this is an additional tool to help address another “piece of the puzzle.” The requirements for acceptance into the training seminar are as follows:

  • Undergraduate degree and teaching credential OR graduate degree in subjects such as Education, Psychology, Speech, Occupational Therapy, or Counseling with at least two years experience working in your degreed field.
  • Training and/or experience in Education, Reading, or Learning Disabilities is highly desirable but not specifically required.
  • Other related fields may qualify as limited screeners based on appropriate education and work experience.

Screener Training Seminars are usually offered in Winston-Salem. If eight (8) or more individuals are available to be trained, we would be glad to make arrangements to come to your area.

In order to be considered for training, you will need to send your resume indicating your credentials and work experience directly to the training location of your choice. Include a brief statement which indicates the professional capacity in which you intend to use your training.

Thank you very much for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Fred Youngman, M.S.
