Dear Parents,

Thank you for meeting with me Wednesday or Thursday. Our second quarter is well underway, and we are trying to do more and more of our work independently—directions given, pictures explained, and then they select their own answers. Most of us are able to write our last names. If your child isn’t able to do that yet, a little more practice is always helpful. We are working more and more on sounds, the next recognition test that we have will also include a section on sounds identification. Please help your child to stay familiar with the sight words. Continue to review/practice/drill at home. PRACTICE MAKES PERMANENT.

We worked on the “I” sound this week. We know that it has two sounds--it says its name as in IRON, and the other sound is in the word IGLOO. We were visited by Inky Inchworm and Iggy Iguana. We added the words we and an. I can really tell that some of the children are working on learning these sight words at home. We practice them in several different ways here. The words will become more frequent, so don’t get behind. The Book in a Bag came home again yesterday. However, these will also become more frequent, so get into the practice of returning them quickly. Don’t forget to write the name of the book and sign (the name will be a word and a picture—The water, etc.). Please get these back within 2 days, if possible. We have some children who completely miss out on a book because they haven’t returned the one from the week before Don’t let your child get behind. We added the sight word “we”.We can tell you our initials!!!

We are currently working on making and recognizing different patterns. We can identify an AB pattern (red, blue, red, blue OR stand, sit, etc), ABB—red, blue, blue, red, blue, blue, AND AAB—red, red, blue, etc., AAB, and even ABC We are having to complete patterns, and also fill in missing symbols to patterns. We are learning to make our own patterns. We’re practicing writing our numbers from 0-39. We’ll be adding the 40’s next week.

Happy Sacks will come home on Monday with Helena, Ella, Dylan H.and Dylan B. Be thinking of that unique “J” item for us to see.

Congratulations to Asia for 100 books read! Keep up the good work, Kindergartners!

Birthday Blessings to Simone! She celebrated her 6th birthday. We also wished Mrs. Washburn a Happy Birthday! We pray that God continue to bless each of you young ladies!!

The Giving Train is loaded and ready to go. If you can donate any of the things on the Giving Train, the items will be used during our Thanksgiving Unit. Thanks in advance. You might wish to check your ALL ABOUT KINDERGARTEN Booklet, if you want some clarification about the train.

We’re about to complete our “God Made Pumpkins” book. It will come home soon. We learned a few more facts about Martin Luther, and the REFORMATION. Tuesday is Reformation. We will have a Katie Lutheran impersonator. WEAR RED—the reformation color.

Have a great weekend. It is a long one for your child.
