MISSED ASSIGNMENTS AND EXAMS

If you are missing the day of an exam your absence must be excused with a phone call from your parent or guardian. If your absence is acceptable you will write a comparable exam at a time agreed upon between you and me, most likely the following noon hour depending on circumstances.

It is in the best interest for any student to complete any missed assessments as soon as possible.

Students are responsible for all work missed when absent from class. It is your responsibility to check your class folder, see me, or another student to see what you missed.

CELL PHONES

Cell phones are not to be used during class time to avoid distracting yourself and those around you from learning. There may be times I ask you to keep your phones with you for a lesson if we are using an online app, but we will get into the routine of setting our phones ASIDE or AWAY, on SILENT, and UPSIDEDOWN. If a cell phone is continually being misused and you are playing with it instead of listening or working, I will keep it with me for the remainder of class. If this continues, I will keep it (in my room or at the office) for the remainder of the day. Please use your smartphones responsibly.

WIKI

Please bookmark my wiki address on your phones or computers at home and check it regularly. I will update our class wiki daily to post assignments or important exam dates. The URL address is included below my email address at the top of this course outline.

PowerSchool

Our grade book program – Power School - is accessible for all students and parents. I encourage you to download the app for your phones and devices for quick access and reminders. I will use this to post assignments before they are due, as well as posting your final assessment marks.

The Five Criteria for Student Success

You can experience success if you are committed to being:

1. Prompt - Attending class regularly and on time. Handing in assignments before or on due date.

2. Prepared - Coming each day prepared with all the required materials, with a

positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. Preparing for all exams.

3. Productive - Completing all assignments to the best of your ability and using your class time wisely.

4. Patient - Be respectful of yourself, all learners in the room, and the teacher. Wait your turn to speak and keep a positive growth mind set. Remember to say “…yet.”

5. Polite – Make smart choices, respect everyone’s ideas. Enter/exit the classroom without making disruptions.
