ACE Lenkrad rates Continental summer tires “highly recommended” in first test of the year

·  Testers praise ContiPremiumContact 5 as “extremely well balanced”

·  ACE Lenkrad, GTÜ and ARBÖ test 205/55 R 16 summer tires

Hanover, February 12, 2015. The latest issue of the magazine ACE Lenkrad features the first summer tire test of the season. The test covered 12 different 205/55 R 16 tires, including the ContiPremiumContact 5 which was rated “highly recommended”. The Continental tire developed in Hanover scored heavily in the wet and proved best-in-test for braking on dry roads. Summing up, the experts from ACE Lenkrad called the ContiPremiumContact 5 an “extremely well balanced” tire. The test was conducted in collaboration with technical inspectorate GTÜ and Austrian automobile club ARBÖ.

In all, the test featured 12 different tires from European, U.S. and Asian manufacturers. 205/55 R 16 is a popular size of tire that suits a large variety of cars, from compact to mid-range models. The magazine’s journalists put the tires through eleven different tests on wet and dry roads, and the price of a set of tires was taken into account in the overall results. All of the tests were run at proving grounds in France, with a Peugeot 308 serving as the test car.

The ContiPremiumContact 5 is Continental’s most popular summer tire for cars. Its impressive features include short braking distances on dry and wet roads, precision handling, a comfortable ride, low rolling resistance and high mileage. This premium summer tire comes in 75 versions for rims from 14 to17 inches, and is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h.
